***Narrow-mindedness is defined as lacking tolerance or not having the mental faculty to see beyond the superficial and recognize the underlying truth. Currently this tendency appears to be widespread in all segments of Muslim communities.
The primary reason for this deplorable condition is ignorance, the inability to recognize this deficiency and to take corrective action. This situation is further aggravated if the ignorant person considers himself to be the epitome of wisdom. and if, he/she is in a leadership or a highly visible position, he can cause unnecessary harm to a family, a community or a an entire nation.
Absence of insight can also result in narrow-mindedness by having a negative effect on one’s thought processes. Insight is a rare virtue, and quite different from ignorance. A person who lacks insight may possess some knowledge, but derives no benefit from it due to a lack of analytical skills, while someone with insight assesses his or her knowledge of a situation and then selects and uses its relevant parts. Through insight, they are able to see what others may not.
I fink One person may read a text and learn one or two lessons from it, while another may learn one or two hundred."

Re: The Dangers of Narrow-Mindedness
tell me about it.there are so many muslims so intolerent n its sad
Re: The Dangers of Narrow-Mindedness
The definition of someone posessing a narrow mind varies from person to person. The danger of someone being narrow minded about various things leads to inequality. For eg, some people not believing in educating their daughters. To me this is a perfect example of the term which obviously leads to inequality between siblings of diff. genders.
From what I have seen is that parents who haven't been educated end up with not so broad minds. Therefore, it certainly depends on education, the environment you were brought up in, culture, friends, the list is endless :)
Re: The Dangers of Narrow-Mindedness
You can also find examples of narrow mindedness in secular schooling system. They claim to be neutral and teachers say we don't deal in matters of faith.
Arguing for the presence of God generally considered biased, assuming His absence is usually called " neutral "......to call this neutrality is intellectually dishonest.
i think sometimes being a narrow minded and being a biased both are similar things.
forbidding a christian from wearing cross or stopping a muslim female from wearing hijab are examples of narrow mindedness.
As for muslims they cannot be unbiased in some matters like believing in One God but it deosn't mean that muslims are narrowminded people as long as they don't force their belief on other communities.
Re: The Dangers of Narrow-Mindedness
a narrow minded person is at a loss at all times himself
