I am sure quite a few of you have seen this - received it yesterday - thought I would share. Wish I had come across this several moons ago.
The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him about humanity, answered “Man. Because he sacrifices his health to make money. Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he dies not enjoy the present; the result being he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never lived”
Sometimes I do actually believe I have transcended mere mortals.
I’m flying. Nay, soaring in the high skies like a magnificent Golden (Okay you caught me, Brown) Eagle and bereft of all that ails you commoners!
Then Abbu knocks on my door and goes ‘Puttar Fajr Da Teym Ho Gaya Veh! Uth Jaa!’
We’re the aryan race pal. What with our decent grasp of punjabi, bhuddhist state of mind, and unlimited amounts of 420 it’s hard *not *to be so zen about life. I’ll take one for the team →
I have read both the versions, the exact one written by Sheikh Saadi and also came to know recently that Dalai Lama also said this. The problem is that we need to investigate who actually said this.
Similarly have read a lot of quotes being referred to some western philosopher in recent years, that I had already read in the quotes of Hazrat Ali (r.a) and other prominent figures of Islam.
I am not sure if there is any effort being made by any institution in trying to find out to whom they actually belong to, specially the ones that are referred to many people.
