The umpires finger. Has the power to make or break a player. Change the course of a game. The game should be decided the the players. Not by decisions that go only one way. Where the recipient of favorable decisions on inches is a foregone conclusion. Where the DRS is useless because call on the field would stand. Bangladesh was the at the receiving end against India on 2 such decisions.
In the recent Test series Steve Davis and Ian Gould put India on the back foot from the get go. The first Test was swung in Aussies favor by the umps. And that’s a shame.
What will happen in this semi finals. May the better team win.
Re: The cynical prediction of Aus India semi final
Here is my prediction based on recent and not so recent trends
The finger goes up on close calls when India bats. There is a challenge. Umpire call on field stands. India has no more challenges. Now the umpire goes the extra yard. And gives not so close decisions also in favor of Aussies.
Same happens when Aussies bat.
Aussies win.
Hoping this doesn't happen. If Aussies win fair and square on merit, more power to them.
Re: The cynical prediction of Aus India semi final
I was talking LBWs.
If the game is called fair, and India loses, I will have no problems. Just getting a bit scared of some of the umpires. The game hopefully is decided by players on the field.
The other is catches given off pads! Or LBWs given off nicks. Saw quite a few of those with india batting in tezts. And reverse when Aussies batted
And wides - same ht wide for india and ok for aussies.
I
Will come back here and say I told u so. Or I was wrong..
Re: The cynical prediction of Aus India semi final
But he was the leg umpire na. The main umpire gives no ball on waist high full tosses and wide ball on head high bouncers only after getting a green signal from leg umpire.
Re: The cynical prediction of Aus India semi final
Yes it was. He was leg umpire. It is let umpire who has better view of height. He signalled. And maim umpite then called no ball. That day Dhar was stung by a wasp. And was in Pain and probably not at his best.
