The Curse of sensitive/combination/acne/whitehead prone skin

I have combination skin, and not the kind where your t-zone is oily and the rest of the face is dry/normal. no. my nose and forehead are oily.the lips are very dry and i have to keep them moisturized at all times. and there are certain spots where the skin is drier then rest of the face and if i use even the mildest face-wash for a few days in a row i develop a rash and it itches a little. this has always prevented me from developing a skin care routine.
and to make matters worse i have recently had a whitehead breakout :bummer:

so anybody who has sensitive/acne prone skin what do you do to keep the problems at bay? what is your skin care routine? what products do you use and how often do you use them? also is there any kind of food (other than the oily and junk of course )that you avoid? any good tips you can think of? please help me out.

Re: The Curse of sensitive/combination/acne/whitehead prone skin

Stick with organic skin care routines. Cetaphile, Aveeno are not organic but they are very light to to skin. True organic brands such as ALBA, Avalon, Botanica are all affordable good skin care product carriers. I have almost the same issue as you except the rash part. I'm currently using Clean and Clear Acne solution because my acne was out of control. One thing I would def recommend from Clean and Clear is their Acne moisturizer! it is amazing! controls the oils on my face and helps with the acne as well.

Re: The Curse of sensitive/combination/acne/whitehead prone skin

thank u lil-ash. i am definitely gonna look into the organic products.but are they available in pakistan? i have a feeling they arent :(
also do you get whiteheads a lot? what do you do to get rid of them? my breakout started along my side burns but its spreading towards the cheeks now. they are even on the chin, and my chin was the only part of my face that i never had to worry about.

Re: The Curse of sensitive/combination/acne/whitehead prone skin

I have sensitive skin...there's always something happening. Its a never ending process...trying to get rid of little things and control newer things. :(

What I do to control is MD Forte's 30% glycolic wash and a 2% salicylic acid toner. The combination of this helps. For moisture, I do masks of olive oil overnight (certain areas are dry and certain oily). With the mask of olive oil I notice a bit of balance and the dry areas stop flaking or looking so obvious. It definitely helps. As a moisturizer, I use pure rosehip oil. I have oil in my T-Zone and this doesn't make it oilier...it just kind of disappears into my skin. Sunscreen is a must. Clinique makes a good one and so does Cosmedix.

I ice if I see a spot forming. It helps.

For food...I try to stick to good things...whole grains...nothing too greasy...fresh fruits and smoothies. And lots of water.

Re: The Curse of sensitive/combination/acne/whitehead prone skin

Drink plenty of water 2 litres atleast a day, plus fruit and veg 5 a day, look after your diet, dont stress. use honey/lemon mask mixed with milk....hopefully your skin will glow... my skins the same and the only way around it is focusing on the diet first. have a facial once a while, there are alot of products out there like Clinique range, that are good for sensitive skin.

Re: The Curse of sensitive/combination/acne/whitehead prone skin

I take a lot of liquids, water and juices and smoothies and what not.there are jokes about my water drinking habit because i always have a water bottle in my hand, specially in the summers
i have become extra conscious about my diet now that i have hit 25.fruits and green vegis are a major part of my diet now. what i am trying to say is that i think i eat all the right things. and that is what worries me.if nothing i am eating is causing the skin to get as messy as it has become lately, than what is it :bummer:
my skin doesnt like massages. i can not blend or massage anything into my face. the whiteheads get really bad.
Apple smoothie is one of the few things that work,i fell. u guys should try it too. and the ice tip that Reha mentioned really does prevent the spot to grow into something else.
i can not seem to find rosehip oil anywhere in my city. i really want to give it a try since i have heard such great reviews about it in these forums.will have to ask a friend to get it for me i guess.
i will be getting married by the end of november this year.and considering how my skin has a mind of its own and how choosy it is about the stuff it responds positively to,i ll have to start testing different skin care routines on it right away.i can not even afford to have the luxury of taking lots of facials a couple months before the wedding like most of the girls do.can not risk a breakout u see.

also do you guys think i should try a very mild peel? would that work for the hyper pigmentation and the dullness?or should i first do something about the breakout and then go for the peel?
