I was recently introduced to a crafting product called Washi Tape. It’s a Japanese product, kind of like a cross between rice paper and scotch tape and comes in hundreds of colors, patterns, designs and widths. You can use it to cover and beautify anything!! Here are some of my Washi Tape projects:
My collection of tapes:
I bought these plain, wooden initials that you hang on walls..one for each of my boys. I then started taping the letter in a color scheme to match their bedding:
The finished letter will then be glued to a canvas after it’s painted:
The finished products:
I also picked up some plain, wooden frames from the dollar store and washi taped them for my friend’s twin girls:
The possibilities are endless! I’ll post more projects as I complete them

Re: The Creative Corner
Here’s another project I recently completed. I bought this unfinished wood tray and sanded the rough spots. I then primed it and spray painted it white
I chose this moroccan print scrapbooking card stock because I was really digging the geometric print. I used Modge Podge (a crafting medium) to adhere the paper to the bottom of the tray.
This is the finished tray: I sprayed the completed tray with a acrylic gloss sealer. I also got a piece of glass cut to fit the bottom of the tray, so that it can be used as well, versus being just for decor. If you’re going to place the glass, be sure to support the bottom of the tray with a wooden brace glued cross ways, because these unfinished trays can be quite flimsy.
These look fabulous on a cocktail ottoman. The whole project cost me about $10, and these type trays can retail for about $40!!!
I have another one I’m working on where I’m using the chevron washi tape I showed above versus cardstock paper. I’ll post a pic when I’m done.
