I’m afraid not. Microwaves are electromagnetic waves of a certain energy, just like light. They heat food up by passing through it, and causing water molecules to get excited (heat up). Covering food does nothing except prevent a mess for certain kinds of food.
Still, whenever my nano is around, I have to cover my food when using the microwave.
