Hiya I saw this in another forum and wanted to see what we come up with over here. So what is the average cost of getting married, it will be interesting to see how much/less can be spent on the whole wedding.

There's no one answer for this. I've been to weddings that cost $10,000.....and I've been to weddings that cost over a million. And the definition of "average" changes depending on the "social circle".
Wedding prices depends on the following factors:
1) Location: Living in India or Pakistan...obviously prices are better than compared to living in New York or CA.
2) # of events: Some people like to do 4-5 different events and some do 2-3. The more events you do....the more $$$ you'll be spending.
3) # of guests: 200 guests versus 600. Every single person adds to your cost.
4) Taste in decor & bridal wear: Some people want very lavish customized decor....and some brides want designer outfits. Others are ok with "replicas" and a simple decor as long as it looks nice.
5) Venue: Holding it at a nice hotel such as St. Regis or Four Seasons.....versus holding it at the local desi hall.
Most desis I know go to weddings asking for what they want....and pay the price for their wants (there is nothing wrong with this if you have the $$ to spend without going into debt). In my humble opinion....for most "average" income families, a budget should be set in the beginning....and THEN it needs to decided how everything will be done within that budget. At the end....weddings aren't about how much/less CAN be spent. It's about how much/less the people paying WANT to spend.

There is definitely no average price! It depends on ALL the factors and many weddings can vary by thousands of pounds!

€10,000 approx 250+ guests....everything taken care of by the hotel bride can hire outside vendors for any extras she may require..... :D
