Peacekeepers ordered to leave, troops racing to the border, political tensions at high… yes sirreeee, we gonna have a good ol’ fashioned war!!!
Eritrea Vs Ethiopia … who’s gonna win?
Both sides are extremely poorly equipped, the Eritreans are outnumbered and both sides are likely to go on the attack.
I forsee early Ethiopian victories, followed by a stalled Ethiopian offensive into Eritrea.
The war will end on favourable terms to Ethiopia because the Eritreans will be unable to dislodge the Ethiopian army from what little Eritrean territory gets occupied.
Ethiopia is landlocked, and Eritrea is not. But Eritrea is a much smaller country.
How is the diplomatic relationship between ethipia and Sudan and Somalia?
EH = spent 333 million in defense last year and is 4.6 of GDP, 8 mill guys fit for a fight..
ER = spent 151 million and is 13.4 % of GDP.
Ethipia and eritrea each has amassed 130,000 and 250,000 men, respectively.
Interesting incident from the war ethopian-eritrian.It was one case in which the mig-29 and flanker fought each other, both flown by ukranian and russian mercenaries.
what are the present strength of armed forces of each nations?in terms of weapons tanks planes artillery
very nice see this war discussed
Good thread....!
Third party wins these days financially..the arms makers and dealers etc.
But morally winning is different, and not important anymore....too bad for humanity.
Do the waring parties have enough finances to even support a prolonged war?
and what kind of weapons will be decisive ?
what kind of tactics will be used for attack/defence?
I support this we can sell them a lot of weapons much cheaper than the US or russians.
Primitive armies like the eriterians need small arms,RPGs,MRLs and artillery and lots and lots of ammo much more than sophisticated fighter planes or MBTs.Here Pak has an edge as our ordenance factories manufacture arms and ammo based on older soviet models the types these soldiers will be most familier with.
Hopefully in the near future JF-17s will be flying with many african airforces!
The Eritrean President visited Pakistani weapons factories when he came to Pakistan in February and apparently really liked what he saw.
It would not surprise me in the least if he's trying to do a last-minute stockpile of arms and ammunition. Pakistan and Eritrea have supported each other on many international matters since Eritrea achieved independence.
It's independence struggle was originally by 2 factions, one Muslim faction and on Christian/Marxist faction. The Muslims were quickly overshadowed by the Christian/Marxist faction, which took over the independence struggle and ended up forming the government.
Yes I mean su-27s vs mig-29s I am not sure which one was operated by ukranian mercinaries.Tom Cooper the author of “African MiGs” mentioned that incident in a very long discussion regarding Soviet BVR capabilities it was on the acig forum I did not save it on file otherwise I would have forwarded it to you
Their is little chance of WMDs being used in this war maybe some CW artillery shells(borrowed from a “friendly” neighbor) but they will be so thinly spread out that it wont have a decisive effect on the battlefield. And neither side has the capability to produce any stocks of their own
