The cleaning thread

Hi all,

I know many of us here are avid cleaners and love to go the extra mile to keep our homes clean and tidy. Eid is also not far away and I like to start extensive cleaning before Ramadan starts coz it can get hard to muster up energy during Ramadan

Can everyone share their cleaning shortcuts and totka’s please , that can make this painful task easy?

Re: The cleaning thread

I need some really acha sa totka to make my life easy when it comes to cleaning the grease on the stove top and the kitchen splash back. Even Bleach hasnt helped clear the oil from the splash back . What can I do?

Re: The cleaning thread

You should try with vinegar and bicarbonate, its amazing.
I use them for cleaning all the time and I love it.

Re: The cleaning thread

For stove sprinkle some baking soda and salt and spray vinegar and water solution ( one part vingear +two parts) and leave this for half an hour then remove with any sponge it will clean all grease.

Re: The cleaning thread

Easy off spray.

Re: The cleaning thread

Dior, tell me more about this mixture, whats the measurement and is it like a thick paste?

My splashback in particular is not glass, its acrylic actually, can this mixture take away the shine of it?

Re: The cleaning thread

blue dawn and hot water.. followed by a vinegar soaked wash cloth rub.. it works like a magic.

and if it’s very bad, you can try degreaser from auto shops.

for cleaning schedule.. I haven’t done this but if I ever was in need of organizing my cleaning schedule I would do this.. monthly print out schedule is at the bottom of page.

Re: The cleaning thread

Has anyone tried the “Split” cleaner for carpet stains. The maintenance lady used it on a stain for my office carpet and not other cleaner worked to get the stain off. She sprayed the Split cleaner and brushed the carpet with a brush on the stain and wallah it was clean. I can’t find the stuff on amazon or anywhere. I would really like to ask her for a sample of it for my carpet at home. It’s a cream colored carpet, there’s no way to avoid stains. I’m clumsy and stain prone.

I want Split!!

Good thread CB

Re: The cleaning thread

Thanks Global, is it this one you are talking about: Split Cleaner Photo, Detailed about Split Cleaner Picture on Alibaba.com.

Seems like this is something cleaning companies would buy in bulk. Try asking the cleaning lady for a bottle in return for payment :hmmm:

Re: The cleaning thread

Does anyone know how I can clean the bottom of the cooking pans. They have a layer of hard oil that wont come off with regular cleaning detergents :frowning:

GTG , whats this auto degreaser? is it usable for kitchen utencils as well?

Re: The cleaning thread

Hey CB, I m not sure about acrylic, I have tiles and I just spray vinegar and wipe with a sponge and microfiber cloth and that leaves everything so clean and shiny.
For you backsplash you can try with a paste of bicarbonate and water, apply and leave for 5-15 minutes or more and wipes off with a sponge. Try with a small area for testing.

Re: The cleaning thread

hmm I will do , thanks so much dior .

any idea on how I get remove the stuck thick layer of oil under the cooking pots?

Re: The cleaning thread

I clean my cooking pans back with vinegar spray and make a paste of baking soda, water and detergent and apply on back of pan and leave it for hours and time by time spray vinegar spray. After sometime rub with sponge and all oil will remove.

Re: The cleaning thread

there is alot of use for vinegar in cleaning . Does the smell linger on?

Re: The cleaning thread
