Najam Sethi has been removed as PCB chairman by the government of Pakistan and an interim setup will take charge of the board, under the chairmanship of the retired judge Jamshed Ali Shah, for one month. This is the third change in last seven months in the PCB incumbency.
“The government has notified a new PCB constitution and removed Najam Sethi from the PCB management committee,” Irfana Ullah Khan, a government legal advisor, told ESPNcricinfo. "Jamshed Ali Shah will now be the acting chairman of the PCB and he will also serve as an election commissioner.
“The management committee, which had been working under Najam Sethi, will remain in the board to work with the acting chairman. They are given 30 days to implement the constitution and make the cricket board functional in the given time.”

Re: The Circus Continues

oh no! it wasn't unexpected though...a game of musical chair was in full swing and expected to last at least a dozen rounds...right now, we are at round 6 i believe!

brace yourself for more exciting, hilarious and detrimental rounds. detrimental for cricket in Pakistan. :(

Re: The Circus Continues

This is what happens when government is given a free pass to meddle with every single organisation and institution in the country for dirty politics.

PMLN is desperately trying to do some damage control. Appointment of Sethi as a PCB chief proved to be a blatantly obvious target, with his removal, they'll now have one less question to answer. I'm sure a hefty muk muqa must've taken place between PMLN and Sethi.

I think they’ll reappoint him. Maybe bring him back as an ‘elected’ PCB chairman to finally end the drama.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday suspended the notification which dissolved the Management Committee (MC) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and formed a new governing board to hold elections, resulting in the restoration of Najam Sethi as the PCB chairperson, Express News reported.

Earlier today, the top court had questioned the legality of the notification as the matter was sub judice.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case regarding the restoration of Zaka Ashraf as PCB head and said that such a notification was equal to challenging the court’s authority.

Justice Nisar remarked that the new governing board was illegal. However, Attorney General of Pakistan Salman Aslam Butt requested the apex court to let the governing board – which Najam Sethi is part of – work.

While speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Sethi said that the court, restoring his status, has told him to continue working.

“The court listened to me and then came to this decision,” he added.

The case was adjourned till July 21.

On July 10, as the patron of the PCB, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had dissolved the MC and appointed Justice (r) Jamshed Ali Shah as the board’s new interim chief and election commissioner for a month. Shah is the third person in the last seven months to take over the reins of the cricket board.

Sethi, who has been removed and reinstated as PCB chief several times, will continue to assist Shah in organising elections to appoint the new PCB head.

As per Article 7(2) of the PCB’s new constitution, the election commissioner shall take over as the chairperson and ensure the conduct of elections within 30 days from the date of assumption of office.

And ofcourse its all due to this:

Re: The Circus Continues | sethi restored

Why would one want to leave a post like this where he doesn't have to do anything, fly around the world with team, make stupid decisions/statements and still retain your place.

Re: The Circus Continues | sethi restored
