I was asked this question recently, “If you had 3 kids and all were hanging off a cliff and you had enough time to save only one, who would it be?” It’s hard to decide especially when I don’t have any kids (don’t know the feeling yet) to even imagine that. However, I did ask my mom who I spoke to day over the phone today and she said I just can’t decide(luckily I have 2 brothers, makes us 3). She didn’t want to answer at all and I can hear my father in the back saying who ever is closer to me (lol). A friend of mine said I’d try to save the youngest one… it’s a crazy thought but how can one determine whom to save and then live with the fact that they had to let go one of their own. Is there a good answer to that?
Re: The choice of saving one of your kids...can it be decided?
........i would first save the one who's in most danger or pain or crying a lot ( waisay it's not gonna happen to me ever as i'm too afraid of heights so could never go to the cliff that too with my entire tabbar ) and than go for the rest
Re: The choice of saving one of your kids...can it be decided?
How could you say you'll save the one in most danger? They're all in danger.

The one furthest from the hard rock surface that awaits them.

^ which why hsap said the one in MOST danger. I agree with hsap as well. I would try to save the one that is the weakest (the one that can't hang on any longer)..the one in MOST danger.
or
what your dad said makes sense to....the one that can easily be saved...the one closest in distance to you because putting yourself in danger will def risk the lives our your children even more so. therefore it's a good idea to save the ones that can easily be saved.
May Allah (SWT) put our children and children-to-be under His protection always and never put us in a situation like that......Ameen.

Its a scary thought for sure. When the tsunami happened a few years ago, I remember reading about a mother who was holding onto a tree and her two young children. And the water level was rising and big waves coming in and she knew that if she tried to hold on to both children then all three of them would get washed away so she let go of the older of the two and managed to hold on to the younger on and the tree. She thought she lost her older child and would never see him again. But then by a miracle she actually found him a few days later
