The character that we aspire to be ..

There are two kinds of positive characters around us amongst many kinds of people ..

1- Those who are very diplomatic in their thinking, communication, approach .. they easily settle the difficult situations , handle difficult people , problems .. They have the most friends and next to no enemies …
For example, they will say to A , it was your mistake too lekin B ki mistake hai bi .. etc …

2- The honest , credible kind … they just talk to the point .. no matter who gets offended they only say the truth , in a good tone though. For example , they will say to A , it was your mistake , try not to do it again in the future ..

Which character is the better one do you think? who gets more respected by the general mankind ?

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

I like this thread, your two choices are well picked but I believe there are still some gray areas. Personally I used to be an extreme version of the description you mentioned in #2, but I am now a bit of more of what you described in #1.

I believe both are well respected but #2 will likely be respected for being more of an intimidator as opposed to #1. In a Muslim community though, most likely a person fitting into the description of #1 will likely be more respected. One person is next to never completely at fault, so typically all parties should receive some kind of lecture, big or small.

In the type of world we live in today, I believe a #2 would be more respected by the general public. I do believe that overall, a #1 should be more respected as this description likely decribes someone who is generally more gentle and modest.

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

*Personally i think "#1" kinda ppl would get more respect, as appose to "#2" and i think that is cuz most ppl don't like the kinda ppl who speak right to the point and not care who ever gets offended by w/e their sayin. *

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

i agree that the # 1 would get more respect but i think # 2 should get the same amount of respect as really if you do something you should be able to take the criticism..........the people who speak their mind are just speaking the truth it's not like they're making something up or anything

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

1 would be more popular because he/she has understood the art of diplomacy

2 would get more respect because he/she is not afraid

I dont think I am either one of these two 100% of the time...

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

You can be diplomatic and truthful, diplomatic and credible, diplomatic and honest.
You can tell A , you action was not consistent with the situation, I am sure you have learned from your experience.
You clothes do not fit you anymore.(means you are fat)
Your nose is prominent feature of your face( you have a big nose)
See is it so difficult to be diplomatic , honest , truthful and credible ?

Man I should write a book on that topic . It would be a best seller for decades. No ?

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

i am the love child of 1 and 2

change depending on teh situation and the ppl involved.

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

IMO

  1. Cannot actually solve real complicated issues. Being diplomatic really can't tackle difficult situations.

  2. Truth usually don't come out in a good tone. Truth usually has a bit of bitter in it.

2 is respected more in the long run but no one is about to admit it :)

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

I'm the less common #3, I just start yelling at people and calling their mother very bad things, then I roundhouse kick them in the face and stomp on their faces before running away.

Barbarian.

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

You didn't mention if it actually was the fault of both A and B, as opposed to just A. Things are never one person's fault, so telling someone that all of it is your responsibility is not right. So, I would say 1.

However, you CAN tell A that you are wrong because you acted against a certain set of principles, in which case it becomes about them and they must take responsibility. I think when relevant, it is very important to do.

Re: The character that we aspire to be ..

so long as a person is intelligent and smart enough to recognize a lie and then wise enough to seek the truth, the last one.

i always smile at # 1's.
