I think that he was very democratic when the media did tamasha after iftikhar chaudhry case was referred to the tribunal. Nawaz or altaf would've sorted them out real well

Re: The champ of democracy.. General Pervez Musharraf
Forget consensus building for change of structure, they are not even holding local body elections as per current law/rules/regulations which is the base of democracy. There is no WILL across party lines. No willingness shown.
Well, I'm just pointing out the facts. Reality is that you can't build a house on flawed foundation and complain when it falls down. And for very same reason dictators can't bring democracy & we have experimented with that going back to Ayoub Khan's basic democracy. As for Local bodies election, I support the idea, but that again is provisional subject & not a federal issue.

**Surprising , This traitor/killer Mush was with absolute power for a decade and a kangaroo Supreme court had given him power to amend the constitution but he did nothing for the nation and live only as a slave of US

MQM, Musharraf, landlords and ISI involved in May 12 incident
Re: The champ of democracy.. General Pervez Musharraf
The report said that another diplomatic mission on May 15 said Farooq Sattar was not informed about the planning of the violence on May 12. The MQM leader said the decision to hold a rally in favour of Pervez Musharaf was not made on his recommendation and that Altaf Hussain rejected his suggestion not to stage the protest.

Definitely one of the best leaders Pakistan has ever had. I talked to some family members in Pakistan a few days ago who used to be be against him and all they said was they definitely miss his era and things were a lot better during his time. Some of you on here may not like him and call him a traitor, but to each their own :)

Yeah , A little good after 9/11
When he sold whole the nation for USA's War on Terror
Till today almost more than 70,000 Pakistan lost their lives on his slavery game
Re: The champ of democracy.. General Pervez Musharraf
^ Like I said, to each their own. Thats your opinion. We can agree to disagree. I for one, think it was definitely the absolute correct decision after 9/11 to finally stop supporting the Taliban who are a disgrace to real Islam. I hate their version of Islam and will NEVER support these animals no matter who they are fighting in the name of religion.
Who in their right mind would not support the USA after thousands of innocent lives were lost during 9/11? I certainly wouldn't. Neither would my family who have always taught me the core values of Islam and killing innocent people in the name of religion definitely isn't a part of that. There are a number of things that I don't support the USA of doing. For example, supporting Israel against their brutal slaughter of innocent people in Palestine, but there are other ways to counter that. Supporting extremism, or using the USA as an excuse to support this disease of terrorism in our society is not the way to move forward. Learn from Muslim countries like Turkey. Take a leaf out of their book as to why they have been so successful. I visited Turkey just to see why it has been so successful. I learned very quickly. No one judges you. You are free to wear a Burka or a mini skirt. You are free to go to a mosque or go to a church. What's happening in Pakistan? Sunni's killing Shia's and vice versa, Muslims treating minorities like Hindu's and Christians like 2nd class citizens when they have just as much love and passion for their own country. Tolerance my friend is the key to a peace loving society.
70000 lives have been lost because we as a nation are so divided and confused among ourselves and have these twisted conspiracy theories in our head that the whole world is conspiring against us and every bad thing that happens in our country was due to a foreign hand. Until we don't unite as a nation against this menace of extremism and stop sympathizing with people who cut of our soldiers heads and play football with their heads, I'm sorry to say but that number will go way higher than 70000 in the next few years.
If we still call it USA's war on terror after 70000 Pakistani lives have been lost then I think it's about time we step up and finally think of this as OUR war. How many more lives is it going to take for this nation to finally wake up and realize the Taliban are NOT our assets anymore? How many more Peshawar School incidents is it going to take before people realize these Taliban have zero regard for human life and will go to any lengths, slaughter everyone and anyone in their way to spread terror?
Like I said earlier, everyone thinks differently. Some people have a soft spot for them, I don't. I hope and pray that most Pakistanis don't.

NEW YORK: Former President Pervez Musharraf has said Kabul must share power with the extremist group Taliban and block Indian influence if it wants peace in the country.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published here on Wednesday, he said that Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s September inauguration presented a new opportunity for reconciliation between the government and Taliban and related insurgent groups.
“Ashraf Ghani is a balanced man,” he said. “I think he’s a great hope.” Pakistan and India must stay away and avoid engaging in proxy war, he said.

The retired general said that India had provided weapons, training and equipment to ethnic Baloch separatists inside Afghanistan. He said that US and its allies had consistently failed to consider Pakistan’s concerns, forcing Islamabad to rely on other militant groups inside Afghanistan to prop up its interests.
The WSJ said given his close links to defence and intelligence officials, Mr Musharraf’s remarks offered a window into official Pakistani thinking on the peace process, a policy that was often obscured by careful diplomatic language.
Mr Musharraf also acknowledged in the interview — rare for a top Pakistani official, even a former one — that India and Pakistan had been engaged in a long-running proxy war on Afghan soil that fed the conflict. But, he said, his and Islamabad’s role in nurturing the Taliban and allied militant groups operating in Afgha*nistan were a legitimate counterweight against its rival India there.
“There are enemies of Pakistan that have to be countered,” he said. “Certainly if there’s an enemy of mine, I will use somebody to counter him.”
Syed Akbaruddin, spokesman for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, told WSJ: “We don’t need to respond to voices from the wilderness. Such voices just try to occupy news space.”
“The world must realise that we may not like the face of Mullah Omar…but that is how life is, that is what Afghanistan is,” said Mr Musharraf.
His remarks come as Mr Ghani’s administration plays up hopes that Afghan officials will be able to negotiate with the Taliban leadership in the coming weeks.
But he said those groups were an instrument to counter India’s influence on the ground in Afghanistan and insisted that former US President George W. Bush “knew that I am not playing a double game” with Washington.
