It was Richard Chamberlain, and it came out in 1988, and is based on the book by Robert Ludlum.

The books were swell .......really loved them....can't wait for the movie....

For some reason I am having trouble fitting Matt Damon to the character of 'Bourne'. Maybe its because Chamberlain was awesome earlier, or maybe bcz Matt has such a dead and expressionless face.
Well, in "Identity", he may get away with it (cz he has lost his memory anyway), perhaps ... but if they ever make "Supremacy" or "Ultimatum", with him, I'd throw up.

matt more then proved that he is the one for th role, i hope the 3rd installment comes out soon :D
The movie is absolutely crap compared to the book. At least the book had a solid and interesting storyline. The movie is absolutely nothing like the book .... I mean totally different. The movie is a bore that makes little sense.
i liked the movie...been ages since i last saw it, but i thought it was good, i havent read the book so i can't compare
