The body language of Indian players.....

Though Indian fans were sure enough(I was prety sure that india would lift the cup)that india would win the cup, right from the first match Indian players body language was something awkward.just look at yesterdays match where Indians had to chase (the total was not big one) ,even under pressure they did not try what they ought to be.Dhoni’s decision to send Mr.R.Jadeja made me wondering but tyhe biggest surprise came from Mr.Dhoni who batted `almost callously’,but did not show any intention to chase down the score or win the match.his only bash came off in the last delivery

How could they afford to have such a lethargic attittude in a big match like this?

Raina is a good player in pull shots but his shot selection was poor…

Gambhir did not read the ball…

R.Jadeja… Indian fans would have been more happy that English fans ,when he got out…

Yuvi.anyway… no need to blame him… but in an over like that,he should have been some more careful…

I know we can not replace this defeat with anything. But other teams can learn from tehse mistakes, for sure.

Re: The body language of Indian players…

:cryb:

and I was very sure that Indians will not win the cup. OK, I supported the team because I just love my country, but I was sure that they cannot with this time, however, i expected that they will proceed till the semifinal.

They tried and let us give credit to the english bowlers, they did a fantastic job of curtailing the opposition.

Indians in field are lethargic, the bowling in the death overs were a concern, but most important we did not have a finalised batting order and we were experimenting every match.

Everyone tried, but if I had to pick up one big reason for the failure, I would say it is DHONI. Many times, it is not possible to pin point one player or reason for failure, and most of the times it is a collective failure, but in this case, it is as clear as day and night and the blame rests on DHONI. It is the failure of his captaincy and he was more concerned about the media reports than the team. Dropping pragya ojha, bringing jadeja, Suresh raina @ #3, all are stupid decisions.

However let us look at the positives from this world cup:

1) We now know where we stand in the world ranking.

2) IPL need not help us in becoming the world champs.

Agree 100% :k:

When Dhoni gets all accolades for the team’s success, he needs to be responsible for the failures too.

However, I still believe that Dhoni is among the best captain’s in international cricket today, and this loss will make him introspect and make better decisions going forward.

yes ,true :k:

IPL does not help us in becoming world champions and infact if somebody thinks it does then it is utterly wrong. It is just full of money and nothing else.

yes …lets hope.

But I wish had he played at par with his post English match statements, india could have won …

he said he was looking ahead for T-20 WC in 2010… Great one.I call it great because this is the first tgime I heard an Indian Captain making such positive statements(Though Mr.Dhoni used to make such statements before  . Indian players especially Captains had not ben that aggressive in their press statements.

But I still believe ,had he played up to a minimal 20% of his Calibre that day,India could have won.

Re: The body language of Indian players.....

This is a serious issue. To be very honest, Indian players' body language was not very different than models. They focus a lot on they 'type' of sunglasses, hair styles, necklace, bands, ribbons, bracelets, commercials...etc. And not to mention the cheap dances that can be a torture for even the person who has a bad taste for such things...

Re: The body language of Indian players.....

Team India was not hungry, but there was another reason why they failed miserably in the T20 world cup. Other teams have figured out the players.

Now we have to see if these young players can show adversity and mental toughnes. Will they show versitlity or they gonna be the one hit wonders?

:D

I am not sure about their game but surely they will do versatality in one thing…

In acting commercials… :hehe:

Kirsten blames IPL for Indian debacle

NOTTINGHAM: India’s coach Gary Kirsten pointed fingers at the cash-rich Indian Premier League for his team’s ouster from the World Twenty20, saying it had left the players tired.
India, who won the inaugural T20 Worlds in South Africa two years ago, lost both their Super Eight matches to the West Indies and hosts England to be knocked out before the semi-finals.
Kirsten, the former South African opener, said his team was physically and mentally unprepared to defend the title because the cricketers were involved in the IPL.
He also did not rule out asking his main players to withdraw from next year’s edition of the IPL in March so that they will be fresh for the next World Twenty20 in the Caribbean in April.
‘We had a lot of players with niggles coming into this tournament. A lot of those niggles were picked up during the IPL,’ said Kirsten ahead of the last Super Eights match against South Africa at Trent Bridge later on Tuesday.
‘We lose contact with our players during the IPL because they are connected to and responsible to their franchises.’
‘The players take a lot of pride in playing for their franchises, but the bottom line is the amount of cricket did not play into our hands.’
‘The next World Twenty20 is only something like nine months away and we are keen to start setting up our plans and strategies. We got it wrong in this tournament and we need to go forward from that.’ Kirsten said ordering his players out of next year’s IPL was an option he will consider.

‘I’ve seen that happen in other sports, I know in South Africa they do that in rugby union,’ he said. ‘Maybe that is something to think of in the future.’ ‘Whether it is possible, we don’t know.’
The Indian cricket board-backed IPL was held in South Africa in April-May after the Indian government expressed inability to provide security because the tournament clashed with parliamentary elections.
The five-week IPL is contested by eight franchises, owned by tycoons and Bollywood stars, who bought the world’s leading cricketers for huge amounts.
Kirsten said Indian players should consider resting from the IPL, which he described as a ‘club competition’ whose standards were lower than the T20 Worlds.
‘That is a domestic competition, a club competition in many respects,’ he said. ‘While you have got international players playing in the teams, you have got first-class cricketers making up the rest.’
‘I sense there is a reasonably big gap between what is happening at the IPL level and what is happening internationally [like the World Twenty20].’ The IPL had left the Indian players exhausted, Kirsten added.
‘The one thing that did not play into our hands here is that we had a bunch of cricketers who were quite tired when they arrived in England,’ he said.
‘That is not an excuse because we were aware we had a demanding schedule, but we never got to the level of intensity you need to in the international game.’
‘The standard of cricket and the quality of cricket has been higher at the World Twenty20 than what we experienced in the IPL.’
India, who have been on the road since February, are scheduled to tour the West Indies from next week for four One-day Internationals. There was no immediate reaction from the Indian board on Kirsten’s outburst against the IPL.—AFP
