Have you updated the driver for this recently? If you haven’t,try to find your exact laptop model here:
Download the Bluetooth driver and install it. Restart computer and try.

Yes, the BlueTooth on laptops work. I have mine connected to my headset. So I can watch movies without disturbing anyone.
