There are millions of Muslims in the West and there are many different reasons why people did not go to a protest. For starters there was no protest nearby. IF there was one then would I go? Depends on personal committments and work. Also I personally believe had we ignored the “film” no one would have seen it. We have once again done a mass marketing campaign for this “film” which even by Westerners is considered bad quality.
There are Muslims ou there who dont want to be labelled as extremist yet do you blame them when so many Muslims are willing to make us look like that. It does not help when the worlds attention is turned to you. Violence will neevr achieve anything.
A friend of mine from Lahore told me off for not getting angry even though the night before he was “doing Whisky and Jihad”. The violent protestors in the Muslim World believe people will listen to them when they behave as such. You might attack KFC but it is not hurting any American!
Personally to me this mob anger is so dangerous and it makes me think how regressive these elements can be. They only destroy what is theirs. There is a minsconception that the rioters were poor and unemployed. Many were workers from the middle classes.
What would have been better is if they did a massive get together reciting the Quran, praying or even doing some sort of voluntary community activities.
These people claim to love the Prophet yet they have no idea of his life and his character. It is about time such people were told how destructive they were and how negative they are for the Muslim world. Hatred is not holy. They need to be pulled of their high and mighty pedestals as the defenders of Islam.
