The biggest songs of the 90's

90’s ka bhi apna hi maza tha. Booming of pop in the Pakistani music scene resulted in emergence of solo singers and bands left, right and center. Anyways, these are the mega hits of the 90’s and so big that every Pakistani despite their location on globe knows them and knows them by heart.

  1. Dum Mast Qalander-NFAK: A number that became a rage over night. This number also gave NFAK popularity among young’ns.
Challange: Find out the exact number of times this song has been copied.

  2. Billo De Ghar-Abrar: A mega hit and a mega controvercial. Every where you went in Pakistan this was the song that was being blasted in '96. No matter what you say but this was the song that kick started punjabi bhungra music in Pak’s POP scene.

  3. Prani Jeans-Ali Haider: anthem for college boys. :hehe:

  4. Babia- Sajjad Ali: Though, a copycat of Didi but still it was a rage in the early 90’s in Pak.

  5. Jazbe-e-Junoon- Junoon: a national number from Junoon that can truly be considered in the league of Dil Dil Pakistan.

  6. Baja Cycle Te- Abrar: Muslim League still runs their election campaign with this gargantuan number at their disposal.

  7. Bohey Barian-Hadiqa: Hadiqa’s mainstream break through.

I’d say Billo De Ghar was the biggest rage of the 90’s. Which one’s yours? Also do add anything that I missed.

thanks for sharing this useless information :k:

hehehehe ismaat boy very ismaat

my vote also goes for billo !

Very useful ;)

Billi de ghar !!

You forgetting Chief saab !!

Definatly Asan te janey BILL:biggrin: de ghar.

Dam mast qalander is my second vote. You’re missing Aitebar, Heeray by Junoon, O kainde ea sayian mein tere aan by Jawad.

Cant Touch IT!

Actaully a very justified addition to that list would be "Sayonee" by Junoon, which promoted them in the Indian market initially and then International markets. Sayonee and Mast Qalandar I think are the only songs with phenominal success as it not only affected the artists in Pakistan but it took them beyond the national market into the international arena.

I dont think Bophey Barian qualifies into one of the biggest from 90's. True, it gave Hadiqa the much needed breakthrough but still the success of that song was not a big as some other songs. If Boehy Barian gave Hadiqa the recognation, Najam got his from "In Se Nain Mila Ka Dekho" which became a big hit and gave Najam his identity. Shehzad Roy got it from "Dholna" but the success of these songs are no where near Mast Qalandar or Sayonee or even Jazba-e-Junoon for that matter. Purani Jeans re release did wonders for Ali Haider I dont think the first one got the attention it deserved. Billo de Ghar was a big breakthrough in Pakistani music. Abrar introduced a new style of music and lyrics.

yes, Sayonee is quite a big song of the 90's as well.

yeh 90's was a gr8t and booming year for definate i think shezad roy's song ihe rab dille muslim ku zinda tamana de and sajjad ali's lari adda, also shazia manzoor's song chan mere makna , rahim shah's song cheratla and allah maula these were really fantastic songs in ma opnion wat do u's fink of them.

:)

when was that 'bo kaata' song released? cuz as much as I hate the song, it was a mega hit..

My vote would go to Billo though.. it's success knew no bounds.. and Sayyonee by Junoon was very popular too.
