Re: Muslim Baby Boy Names

Names not recommended
In several traditions it has been narrated that the Prophet (s) has forbidden naming a child with the following names: Hākim, Hakim, Khālid and Mālik. And he has said that the worst names with Allāh (swt) are Hārith, Mālik and Khālid. And when the name is Muhammad, he has forbidden 4 titles (kunyah): Abu ‘Isā, Abul Hakim, Abu Mālik and Abul Qāsim, as both the name and title are not agreeable to the Prophet (s).
In tradition, it has been narrated that one should not name the child Yāsīn, as that is specific to the Prophet (s).

was reading this info from the book demesne has posted in moms thread n thought to post here…

Re: Muslim Baby Boy Names

^ i had read that yasin and taha are names that should not be given to children as the meanings of those two are known only to Allah.

i generally refer to this website for answers and they have more insight: What is the proper naming of a child?

*The best names as the prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) has indicated in a sound hadeeth in Sahih Muslim is, Abdullah and Abdurrahman, and names similar to it starting with the word Abd (slave) such as Abdulkhaliq and Abdurrazaq and so on. It is also permissible and highly recommended to choose a name from amongst the beautiful names of the Prophets such as Musa and that of the Angles such as Jibreel and Mikaeel (Peace and blessings upon all of them). Our prophet said: ((Name your children by the names of the Prophets.)) Abu Dawood, Nasai and others. In another tradition our Prophet (Peace and blessings upon him) said: ((Who so ever names his child Muhammad out of love for me and to attain the barakah there from, he and his child will be in Paradise.)) Musnad Imam Ahmad and others. According to Imam Al Suyuti this hadeeth meets the conditions of a hassan hadeeth.

*Then it is makruh (offensive) and disliked by the shariah to choose an ugly name for ones child such as, Murrah (bitter), Harb (war) and names of other religions such as Susan, Sonya, Jack etc. It is haram (prohibited) to choose names which Allah alone is known by such as Malik al Muluk which means King of Kings or Al Kabir (the Great One) or Al Hakim (The Wise One or the Law Giver).

*
*Finally naming a child Hakim without the particle Al attached to it is acceptable, though the name Abdul Hakim far accedes the merit of the latter.

Re: Baby Girl Names & Their Meanings

If I have a girl I will name her Daniyah/Dania/Danya. Someone knows the meaning of this? My dad told me "Dania" is the fruit of jannah. Want to confirm this ..

Re: The meaning of this baby name: Inciya

I like it a lot as well and find it super feminine. I heard of the meaning you told me but I also heard it means pearl in farsi. Just wanted to confirm different opinions. I think its unique but I dont like the spelling with an S because I think then it also looks like it could be pronounced as In-sy-ah and I dont like that. Going to school in North America I can see that happening a lot. You'd be surprised by all the different ways my four letter name was pronounced.
