Here I am talking about Shoib’s groin injury. According to the latest news it IS serious and he could be sent back to Pakistan. Now this is really a sad situation for Pakistan, which doesn’t look confident enough to win NZ ODI series. Also there is a big concern of how big is the ‘damage’ and will there be an impact in his future performance
or life for that matter.
There goes Indian series.

Dont tell this. Some people will get offended. You are underminign abilities of Sami and Shabbir.
Well why the hell wasn't he wearing the required protection? It is his own fault. I personally think he will be OK.
I am confident we can win against NZ without Shoaib. We will need him against India so probably a good idea to send him back and let him rest and recuperate.
I think I read in Jang, that during nets he got hit in the groin while batting without a protection. However, its claimed that the bowler was Kaneria. Now, I find it hard to believe that a Kaneria ball will sideline a batsman for so many days. Yeah, it hurts for a while... but not so much. This must be something else.

I also suspect that it could be something else, but the reason is not that it was Kaneria, because no matter what you do when thrown at you its almost a stone, and even spinners throw at 50-60mph speed IMO, which is enough to sideline you for many weeks (if not months or life ;) ).

Shabbir and Sami shine less often that Shoaib. Also, only Sami can bowl 145+ and he does not really pose as much threat as Shoaib.
I don't think it matters much. Indians have proved time and again that they don't care how fast the ball is. They hit or miss based on their own terms!
And Pakistan have proved time and again that if bowled accurately, faster balls get more wickets.
its okay yaar... atleast he will b fit for the indian tour.

I definetly hope so! inshallah, he'll be alright!
The article in PAK vs NZ ODI series thread, it is mentioned that Shoaib was spotted skiing. That is proof of his turning over heels, going back to his pre-world cup behavior of opting what matches to play.
I think he’ll see if series is tied for last game then he’ll declare that he is fit and then “win the series” and show how important he is for Pakistan team.
I say rest him even if we loose the series until India visits Pakistan, after that put him on a rocket going to Moon or Mars and say bye-bye ![]()
^Good suggestion. Too bad, as todays match showed, he is by far our best bowler of the current group......
The presence of Shoaib didn’t really help us win the match, it was a batting pitch and all bowlers got smacked around because they coudn’t pitch the ball in right places… When the wicket is a batting pitch why would our medium pacers provide so many shorters? They thought of themselves being Shoaib whose pace would beat batsmen or cause him to error? You have been playing 6 years or so and still don’t know "intelligent bowling? ![]()
Bowling on leg side helps you? ![]()
Inzamam pulled up by PCB for Shoaib incident
By our correspondent
KARACHI: Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been told by the Pakistan Cricket Board to reign in fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar after he appeared on the front page of a New Zealand newspaper on Wednesday jet-skiing when he was supposed to be recovering from a groin and abdominal injury.
Sources in the Pakistan board confirmed that chief executive Rameez Raja had spoken to Inzamam and told him that the incident was not a positive reflection on the discipline in the team.
“Inzamam has been told that Shoaib is required to be handled with more firmness and it was unthinkable that while he was said to be recovering from a serious injury, which forced him to miss the first two One-day Internationals, he was captured jet-skiing on the front page of a newspaper at a holiday lake resort in Queenstown,” the source said.
“Rameez told Inzamam that while the board would be speaking to Shoaib about the incident, as captain he also had the responsibility to ensure the players behaved properly and created a positive image for the team and Pakistan cricket,” he added.
The enigmatic Shoaib Akhtar placed his teammates in an embarrassing position when his photograph appeared on the front page of the “Southland Times” on Wednesday morning jet-skiiing when he was supposed be injured and not fit for the match.
Jet-skiing is a tough water sport which requires lot of muscular and groin activity, something which was bothering Shoaib since the start of the one-dayers. Sources said that the Pakistan board was faced with a catch-21 situation while dealing with the antics of Shoaib as he had matured greatly as a bowler and become an automatic match-winner.
“They know his presence at 100 per cent fitness is imperative in the coming home series against India. But they also realize his antics don’t have a very positive effect on the rest of the players in the team.”
Bottom line is, Shaoib is going no where. With our current situation he is a crucial part of the team. Shabbir and Sami are ok, but without Shaoib our main stregnth, bowling, is not much of a threat. Why he is jetskiing when he should be resting is another question and obviously doing stuff like that is not acceptable.........
