One of the user interface elements that I liked the most on Gupshup site was the “Quickie Bar” near the top of the page. Neat and slim, it did what it said: provided quick access to the forum you wanted to visit.
No more!
This has now been replaced with a decorated fat section on the right side of the page which seems to be confused on whether it’s a menu-bar or quick-link section.
If it’s a menu bar, then abbreviated names of the various sections are not going to be very meaningful to the infrequent users and needs to be ‘fatter’ and more descriptive.
If it still is a quickie-bar, then it’s too crowded and colorful and takes JUST TOO MUCH HORIZONTAL space on the page. As shown in the screenshot below, it forces the main ‘forum/thread’ section to fit into smaller horizontal space on the page and ruins the experience of the page. It has a ‘minimize’ button, and one would expect, that if the annoying quickie is minimized, it would return the horizontal space so that it can be used by the rest of the page content, but NO, the fat quickie doesn’t release that space even after being minimized. Why the minimize button then?
If we have to have a decorated quickie, why can’t we place the haseena near the top of the page where it can be arranged in a neater way, and yet the rest of the page doesn’t have to suffer from lack of horizontal space. Perhaps you have super wide LCD screens, but rest of the public doesn’t.
I am done venting. Just wanted to let you know that this ‘new quickie’ has made the user experience of your site worse.
Cut the Crying. Azkar has already said its not going to change. He has plans for the site, so wait for new additions, under the quickie most likely, and you won't call it a waste.
As for viewing, you need to get a monitor that supports atleast 1024x768 and video card that supports high resolutions.
fine, fill that column of space with ads, zaroorate-rishta whatever, but please:
(a) can we have the old quickie back? that doesn't require us to weed through a link-farm to find where we want to go (quickly)
Also, please open a paypal account for voluntary contributions and put a link somewhere near the top. In fact, add a link to it in the quickie-bar. I am more than happy to contribute and I am sure many more will too. Ads are not gong to be enough if no one clicks on them.

Thats a good point. But I am not sure if they will take either one into consideration
Is there anything wrong with that? I think Azkar has every right to try and get some funds for this wonderful site. After all he has been funding it from his own pocket for so many years.

Ads etc are fine, I don’t know about others, but I am just requesting for the old (smaller/neater) quicky near the top of the page. Not demanding, just requesting/suggesting.
i'm still trying to give the vertical bar a chance.. like others i loved the one on top.. this one just doesn't feel the same.. but i'll give it a month to grow on me if it ever does..
this will also become quicker.
