The best thing to happen to Metal

In the last five years during which we have observed the sad demise of such metal giants like Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura and Rage Against the Machine, the only good thing that has served the purpose of Metal has been, in my opinion, TOOL’s latest album (released last year) Lateralus.

These guys released their first album after a long wait and boy is it good! Musically they have advanced by leap and bounds and I think it would take a whole lot of effort on their part to even come close to producing a good follow up album, whenever they do that. In my opinion they are the best metal band around at this time with no competition whatsoever from any other band, not even from the old metal war horses. The currently popular rock/metal bands, the ones we get to watch on MTV all the time and listen to on the FM channels suck big time.

I myself only started listening to Tool, when I realized that there was nothing good coming out on the mainstream metal scene. But Tool has been a revelation to me really. Well this is just my personal opinion.

So, does anyone else think the same way (or differently) about Tool and Lateralus?

So what you wanted to See good has made you blind
And what you wanted to Be yours has made it Mine
So don’t you lock up Something that you
Wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking No not tying
I sure don’t Mind a change But I fell on black Days
How would I know That this could be My fate

Tool is a great band. I remember when I heard their song skisim on the radio for the first time, one of my favirote songs of the year 2001.
Don't you think the way album title is written on the cover is in arabic font?

Thank you, come again

I'll definitely check out their album. But have you ever listened to STATIC X?

Mast Malang, you wont regret getting your hands on this album, really. Music is just so so full of passion unlike the usual stuff and is truly addictive.

Yea Umair, the title kinda looks like arabic font but am not sure.

And I forgot, I haven't listened to Static-X. Is this a new band?

Re: The best thing to happen to Metal

This may be the longest lag between posts for a thread... but I like setting records :)

Tool's Lateralus blows away any other artist's album I've ever heard. The composition, production, lyrics and the whole atmosphere of the album (epic trippy progressive metal with a message) is utterly outstanding and in a league of its own.

**The overall message: **Do not take things at face value. This life is indeed a link in a chain of events that have happened and those that are to come: We are and will forever be in for the ride and will keep spiraling outwards. Death is only a transformation to a higher level of existance and we must make the most of life and chrish every moment because it is a sacred gift!

Very well done! They get my 11 out of 10 on this one!
