  • this isn't helping me ppl, give me a technique which is very useful in remembering the facts learned and i want them to be tazai in my mind when i sit the exam no good revising my rear end off and forgetting the learned facts when d-day looms. basically suggest a good proven technique... *

I studied at the last minute, but some of my friends were top students. This is what some of them did:

Studied everyday around 2 hours per subject.

Took extensive class notes. Some of them took notes, and then rewrote the notes later in a more organized manner because that helped them memorize it.

Reread material two or more times. One of my friends would reread the same material 3 times in one sitting. She now works for a big firm in her city, Mash'Allah.

Study groups. Study groups helped them reinforce the material they were learning. Remember, teaching others what you are learning, helps you retain information.

My favorite: Flash-cards. Flash cards are the best way to learn new things and keep them in your memory, as long as you revise them. Be sure to use word-association to better help understand things.

Diagrams. Draw diagrams that link information. It's a trigger to the brain.

Ask others to quiz you. Preferrably a family member. My mother used to use this method on me as a child. Worked very well back then, Mash'Allah.

Hope some of this helps, Insha'Allah. smile

LUC,
everyone has his/her own specific study methodology that works.

Munni has some really excellend suggestions that have worked well for me. I'm not very good at organizing myself beforehand, and I tend to do most of my studying before the actual exam.

Nevertheless, I like to make very brief notes as I read my material, and use lots of diagrams and flow charts to help me memorize. On the day of the exam, these notes are the only material that I go through...

Also, a group session the day before the exam is very conducive to my learning. I like people to quiz me and then I quiz them. Even if we don't know certain answers, both the people get to learn from it - its like a "lets see if you know this..." kind of a game where you try to outdo the other.

Also, I put a stop to my sturying like 3 hours before the exam, as that usually doesn't help me.

I'll be posting my experience next year here on C&A after I go through what some call the ultimate exam in a University... my Ph.D. Comprehensives! should have a more profound reply for you then.

Hope this helps for now.

Good Luck.

P.S. right now, I myself am waiting to start writing an exam, the likes of which were unheard of before... its a 20 hour exam!!! wish me luck ya'all.

  • jazakallah khairum munni and umar, i appreciate ur :help: *
  • First jot down, what you have to do.
  • Then assign time slots for each task.
  • peruse and write down the main points on paper( just like index) related to that topic.
  • try to relate the concepts with other objects.

  • munni some of them are effective like group discussion, rewriting. quiz test...
