The Monolith, found on the surface of the moon. The mysterious monolith, with perfect dimensions, played a hand in man’s evolution, and was believed to be controlled from Jupitar, by an unknown entity.

The SS Disovery. This model was later burnt and destroyed by Stanley Kubrick, to avoid its use in any movies in the future.

Based on a short story by Arthur C. Clarke, 2001 is the kind of film that some people will love, and others will hate. There are many different interpretations of this movie - many of them religious - and Kubrick himself had avoided answering questions just to keep the confusion going. One of the most famous “movie computers”, HAL, plays a major role in this film, and his interactions with his operator, Dave Bowman, have been parodied many times. The footage of the moon was created more than a year before Neil Armstrong landed there - and Kubrick had it exactly right, two thumbs up for the special effects. All that is up for debate is what it all means…

Star Trek, The Motion Picture 1979

Ever since the original Star Trek series (1966) was banned, due to the first inter-racial kiss being aired on network television, it gathered up enormous fan support with its reruns. There was also an animated series started with the original cast playing the voices. However, this was not enough. The new pilot for a brand new Star Trek 2 series was made, which was later turned into a movie due to the impressive Star Wars box office record.

Admiral James T. Kirk is called upon to take command of the U.S.S. Enterprise for the first time since the TV series ended. A strange alien craft is heading towards earth, destroying everything in its path. Kirk rounds up the rest of his old crew, and acquires a few new members, and sets off to intercept the alien spacecraft.

Commander Decker and a probe

The crew of the Starship Enterprise, examining a probe, that used to be their helm officer. (The bald girl is India’s first miss world).

Spock, Just one correction, The lady in the picture is Persis Khambata who never won the Miss World Title, She was a Miss India in 1965.

The First Indian Miss World was RITA FARIA in 1966.

AK

She died of cancer I think...

Her character wasnt too important like that of Dekker, since she was just a helm officer who was killed and turned into mechanical probe by V'ger... Vijay Amritaj, the Indian tennis guy also had a very very brief cameo in Star Trek IV.

The real characters to watch out in this movie were Kirk, Spock, Mccoy, Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, Scotty, and Nurse Chapel. They went on and carried the saga for so long.

Although there have not been many pure scifi movies lately, a good one was 'sphere'.

Close encounters of the third kind, now that another gr8 scifi!
