so the question is how long does it take to bowl your first best ball …
Re: The best first ball to bowl to a new batsman
Yorker or an outswinger bowled just at the off stump, pitches right in line with the off stump and moves away enough to tease the new batsmen.
Re: The best first ball to bowl to a new batsman
I agree a yorker assuming you can deliver one with accuracy and decent pace would be a good first ball to bowl to any new batsman. A good in-swinger bowled at good pace would be the next best option IMO. An out-swinger pitched on off stump is most likely going to be a futile exercise (as a new batsman would most likely swish at it and miss it completely!) unless it is something which draws him into playing a stroke. middle stump line is more like it.
Re: The best first ball to bowl to a new batsman
Going back to your school days, college/university/mohalla vs. mohalla cricket; often you saw from a distance, this one new person in the opposite team you know nothing about. You haven't seen him bat before. Haven't gauged his strengths/weaknesses. You are standing at your bowling mark, staring at the batsman. What went/goes through your mind? What is the best place to bowl that first ball to a new batsman? Just outside that off-stump channel, or right in line of wickets, or perhaps a slower ball for starters?
What else?
i always start wid a slower offcutter to a new unknown batsman
