The Best 14th was not a competition. It was a humble yet fervent endeavour to express our deepest love and steadfast commitment to the home that we all call Pakistan. It was a demonstration of adoration and a declaration of spirit that we are always here to stand by our motherland unflinchingly and that no mather wherever we are based, we are connected to the wonderful White and the glorious Green.

Khuda Karey ke merey arz-e-pak par utrey
wo fasl-e-gul jisey andesha-e-zawaal na ho
yahaaN jo phool khiley, khila rahey sadyoN
yahaN sey khizaaN ko guzarney ki majaal na ho

At the end of the competition, there may be one winner but there is no loser at all since it was a win-win game for everyone. But just for the sake of record, I have to make public the ruling of our judges.

My heartiest congratulations to all the participants for doing an amazingly wonderful job…

A job that can only come about with collective efforts - “Ittehaad” — and we were only able to conduct
it better because we decided to go about “Tanzeem”… I had firm “Yaqeen-e-Mohkam” that it is going to be a tough one… and it was… It was not an easy decision at the end…I had to go about and re-evaluate many posts with comparitive study of each points… and it was a close call.. you will notice that all good presentation received FULL marks… and all good poems (the one that judge felt to be better in its message than other) got 3 points. The real difference came in when some of the posters failed to cite the poet’s name… If everyone would have done that one job, believe you me, there were atleast three participants who would have received FULL marks and one who could have tied the second or first position…

Again, as was the case in previous competition, it was really the breakdown of points that made a clear cut decision… There are few lessons to be learnt from this now…

  • Always follow the instructions.
  • Each point is valuable so play intelligently.
  • DO your homework completely
  • Try to be master of all than being a master of one and jack of all.

One more thing to remember is that when I had discussed the idea of this competition with Amal, we had decided to go for a full fledge graphics and audio/video presentation be the main focus as this was all about CELEBRATION. Being a Judge, I can tell you that I always listen to the feedback and try to find out where I may have a wrong concept… All of you know how my interaction with everyone in the poetry forum is… I have read all the gossping in Time Pass thread and I was also part of it… I read what was the opinion of many guppies as well as I read what was not mentioned in words but was there in the thread :stuck_out_tongue: .. I also had contacts with few guppies off gupshup and continuously read their feedback to evaluate myself… nonethesless, rest assured, nothing was to influence my final decision… It was solely on the grounds of being fair… Having said that, there are two things in this regard:

1). It appears that with some of the entries, the complains were that it was about the “national poem’s” presentation and not the graphic skills of the poster nor about posting ‘a whole book’ instead of a poem… very valid arguments… but I think I’ve already mentioned why the decision was taken to incoroporate such posts in the competition…

2). This is very important you will see that I have given points to soniaa_jee whereas her entry was edited… I want to make it clear before anyone points finger (and rightly so, if I do not give proper reasoning to beging with)…

I had asked sonia_jee to post something different because she had posted what Berhi_Bee had posted… and unfortunately, and ironically the very same thing was again posted in the thread whereas Sonia_jee did not post anything or perhaps could not find anything… I tried to contact her but before she could reply, the time was UP… IN MY OPINION, it was very unfair for her to delete that post (though rightly) but it was equally unfair to ask the other person (redidentity) to look for something else in already short time…

This was very very unfair and it was my mistake that I was not online to point out to the other person the same thing when the post was made… I take the responsibilty and hence, the compensation. I gave points to sonia_jee as well equal to what I give to Berhi_Bee as I had read her unedited post…

At the end, I thank Amal for showing such trust in me. It was an honour to be part of this competition and an opperunity to learn/recall things with the synopsis presented in the posts…

Aakhri dafa 14th August ka dinn 2004 main munaiya tha, jub apni comapny waloon ko ayk ice cream party di thi, aur itfaq say IT department main 2 indian guys bhi thay , unhain bhi invite kiya tha and they were like about to cry
2004, 2005 and 2006 main tu pata bhi nahi kub ye din aayea aur kub chula giya. Ab 2007 main phir say feel ho raha kay nahi Pakistan ki mohabut dill main abhi bhi hay, ye nazmain pur kay, aap loogoon ka juzba daykh kay mughay phir say ayk baar ye ahsaas ho raha hay kay Pakistan say mohabut kurna tu furz hay, uger khuch bura ho raha hay tu iss main Pakistan ka koi kasoor nahi, ye tu chund ayk loog hain jinhain ya tu ahsaas nahi ya phir ahsaas tu hay laykin paysy nay un ki aankhain, damagh aur dill ko control kur liya hay. Allah Pakistan ko Qaim Rakhay aur iss kay loogoon ko behter zindgai guzarnay ka moqa day. ameen!

Presentation, very good :slight_smile: after i saw your post, i remember "Wel Began is half done, very very beautiful Video of “Ye watan tumhara hay”, aap nay ayk hi chees ko three different ways main kaha, i guess two were enough, one video was enough. i liked more the second version :slight_smile:
mughay nahi pata kay Pakistani Flag kay oper aap nay ye urdu khud likhi ya kay it has been done by someone else, so you are just getting marks for presenting it. I will take it for one of best “Nazam”.

jahan tk aik hi song ki 2 videos ka sawal hai to jo new version hai i mean 2nd one us k sath kuch problem tha wo chal nahi rahi thi. to AQ say poocha tha main nay unhoon nay kaha k dono hi rehnay do.
