The benefits of offering Iftari to friends and family

As Ramadhan is here I thought I would ask a question in regards to offering Iftari to friends and family. Religiously what are the benefits?

I’ve seen a recent ‘rise’ in women inviting sisters over for Iftari and was wondering if religiously there are benefits or is it a cultural thing? I’m considering the fact Mashallah none of the sisters who get invited would go to bed hungry, and can afford to eat.

Also, is there benefits of sending food to the Masjid for Iftari for the brothers?

Re: The benefits of offering Iftari to friends and family

The Prophet Peace be upon Him said: "He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, except that nothing will be reduced from the fasting persons reward." [Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh]

I hope that answers your question, so go ahead and place a box of dates at a local masjid. :)
