So you have a survey! wow, when and where was that conducted?

I used to believe that most Muslims keep beard because it is "highly recommended", "mandated", "required" by Prophet Mohammed PBUH... not everyone does it to follow "distinguish yerslves from other religions' followers" hadith... I think there two different hadiths one for "grow beard trim moustache" and one about giving one of the reasons for beard. Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks.

dude .. your beliefs not mine.. sort out your hadiths first then.. I only write what I observe and know is held to be the truth by the majority.. so what is it again.. if you may speak for the majority of Muslims.. are we supposed to shave the moustache, keep the beard.. and if yes.. why?

Its in the Quran that Haraon (Aaron) AS. had a beard which was at least large enough that you can grab it in you hand. So this is one example from Quran.

So its for sure a sunnah of Nabi.

MiniMe bhai jaan, numerous prophets may have had a physical appearance different from each other depending on the times they lived in.. what we need is not a description but a confirmation that the appearance was due to some divine order for them to be that way.

Sure, there is no divine rule about that, you are right in this argument.

Being a muslim, (after Quran) my deen is explained through Hadith, and there are lot of reasons for having a beard in hadith.

I'll only answer to the bold text. You are recommended to grow beard, and trim moustache. Why: Because Prophet Mohammed PBUH said so, and he also said that it was a "tradition" of other Prophets as well.... so if you want to keep up the traditions of Prophets then do as said.
