Re: the art of pottery!
well i went to multan, and that area is famous for it's blue colored glazes and the amazing pottery work that is done with it. it's all over the maqbaras and the old part of the city. it's gorgeous. i actually brought back this bowl with a surah on it (i don't remeber which one) and even though that was the low quality work...the work is amazing and exquisite.
just aside...i think churi-making is pottery as well. even though it's made with glass...if you just look at it...it's amazing the thought and work that goes into it. i saw this documentary on churi making a long time ago, and since then my "qadr" for these glass bangles has gone way up.
Re: the art of pottery!
oh i never knew that churi were pottery based too. i thought they just took glass and twisted it w/ heat or something.
i love churieeaan.
*chun chun chun
*i took this pottery class at school, and made a whole lot of pots and stuff on the wheel…and then glazing it was all fun too.
whats a maqbara?

Re: the art of pottery!
a maqbara is just a fancy burial place, usually for VIP’s. it’s big an elaborate.
i tried my hand at pottery too. learned difference between ceramics and regular clay. it was fun. ofcourse, i have no sense of scale, a nd i am really impatient, so nothing turned out amazing
but pottery in itself is fun.
as for the chooriyan…it was a really long time ago that i saw the documentary…so i don’t rememeber the exact steps (they actually told about a place which is best known for it’s excellent churian), but like the almost end step was turning the glass into a circle and closing it and making it a perfect circle. so in my eyes…it’s like pottery ![]()
