Quick question , if we buy the normal White candles from the market, and melt them , add color and fragrance of choice and then put them in a mould for it to set… is this re-melting and re-setting of candle going to make it lose its form?
Can we melt the wax as many times as needed or does it lose its form after one or two melts?
Re: The Art of making candles ..
^ instead of moulds you can use old containers ,glass jars etc in your kitchen just spray with veg oil and add melted, coloured wax make sure u put the wick in the middle and leave to set ,dont re use wax more than 2 times ...but if you experiment let us know how you get on ..
Re: The Art of making candles ..
Sounds good GirlonIce ...Cheers ..
Another question ... what is the best way to make multi-coloured or two toned candle?
Re: The Art of making candles ..
MAKING RAINBOW CANDLES:
You can give layered effect by pouring different coloured waxes one over
the other after each colour sets. You can use two to three colours or the rainbow colours as given here.
Take a thick square or round rigid mould. Take equal pieces of wax in seven different bowls.
Keep the seven colour dyes or crayon pieces ready.
Melt the wax in the first bowl and add red colour, pour it into the mould.
When it is almost set, pierce it with a knitting needle and fix the primed wick.
Repeat the process with the rest of the colours. Pour the coloured wax one over the other after the previous
ones sets. It will take approximately 1 hour for the wax to set.
Leave it over night in the mould and pull it out of the mould the next day.

Now if u like there are many different tecniques here i share one more if u want to be more creative..enjoy:)
CHUNCK CANDLES.
A white candle with two or three colours seen through its transparent whiteness.
Melt wax as given in the basic procedure in a single or two or three desired colours separately.
crayons or candle colours or dyes. Take three trays and grease it with coconut or any clear vegetable oil
and pour each of the three melted colour wax into each tray approximately in 1cm thickness. Keep aside for
setting. When the poured wax is nearly set, cut into desired shapes using a knife or moulds (star shaped, heart shaped etc). Now your chunks are ready.
Grease a desired container and fill three fourth of the container with the
chunks made earlier. Press them as close as possible against the sides so that the colours will be seen
through at their brightest. Now take a wick slightly longer than the container height and prime it.Dip the
wick three to four times in boiling wax at equal intervals to get a coating of wax over it. This makes the wick
straight)
Now place the wick in the middle of the chunks inside the container. Melt plain wax and pour it into
the container until the surface of the mould is level. Keep aside for setting.
Instead of making chunks, you can use coloured candle ends left over after use. Pull out the pieces of wick
inside before using them as chunks
Re: The Art of making candles ..
EL thats super brilliant girl … Question , pouring hot wax over the little chunks , would it not melt them down? ![]()
Say for example if I prepare small star shaped chunks and then place them in the Container Mould, then when i pour hot wax on top , will it make them melt down and lost their star shape?
Re: The Art of making candles ..
CB remember never to pour very hot wax in molds let it sit for 2-3 min then work with it .And u will later on come to know the tips also .As far as i have seen at HOBBY CRAFT shop if u are in UK they have very nice kits for candle making if u want to have a good practice do buy one of them then u can understand the whole procedure easily.
And u have to practice a while to get a very nice neat look and be veryyyyyyyy careful with the wax please .
there u this will help u ![]()
this will help u too
