The Apprentice

we’ve had two episodes now and i think i am comfortable sitting watching it all..

Here’s a quick summary for those who don’t take must-see-Thursdays seriously:

Donald Trump (NY real estate mogul) has invited 16 men and women from all over the USA to compete for a one year contract to be head of one of his companies. These are professional people with successful careers of their own in marketing, sales and management.

It’s a Guys vs Gals and the first assignment (to sell as much lemonade in NYC in a day) was won by the girls and one of the guys was ‘fired’. The second episode had them create a campaign for a corporate jet timeshare, the guys lost again and one more was fired.

Now what I get so far is that the women were really ‘out there’ .. willing to leverage their ‘sexuality’ in order to achieve the objective.. whereas the guys were more ‘reserved’ and ‘professional’ and of course ‘drab’ and unappealing; which is probably why they lost cuz they are on a ‘show’ and things have to be ‘exciting’.

Did someone else notice this too? or were the women like the usual.. “Oh yeah.. we beat the guys.. women rule!!!” and such?

Did they show the women selling lemonade? Did you see them using their sexuality to increase their sales? If men do better its cos they are damn good at what they do and if women do better its cos they used their sexuality? Give me a break. The guys should have been able to sell to the women if the women made their money by selling to men.

Femme did you see the episode??

I can only go by what they showed.. which would have it's own bias i agree but come on.. selling lemonade for $5 by giving kisses on the cheeks.. u think people were buying it cuz their 'sales pitch' was better?

and we both know it doesn't work that way.. the male brain is more wired to think sexually than a females brain.. now if they had put the lemonade on SALE marked down from $10 to $7 and gave some stupid little nicely wrapped totally useless thingie as a free gift with it.. they'd have their sales to females..

No I didn't see it, hence the intial question.

I suppose the guys should have come up with an effective strategy too. Little freebies on the side isn't such a bad idea. It's a realty show, they will do what they can to win!

well not only that.. in the second episode they decided to capture the parts of the jet as 'phallic symbols'.. their presentation stressed more on arousing the passion then selling the service.. .. complete with the lean ins on the client etc.. and they even boasted about their approach..

ah well.. if the women do it it's doing what they have to, if the men had done it.. they'd be perverts....

next episode Wednesday .. let's see how the teams tackle their next assignment..

Women will always have that edge over men! :D

Not many men could do the same. Only if you're a real charmer!

Tip top entertainment I must say. Bravo, bravo.

Sam got the boot.. FINALLY!! I think the only reason for keeping him around for so long as his "MR. Trump wants us to do this.. and Mr. Trum that.. suck up routines to the camera".. but alas he outlived his usefulness.

The guys lost AGAIN.. and lost another player.. AGAIN.. only this time it wasn't as much of a 'loss' cuz Sam's gone.. maybe they can rebound!

If the show continues the way it does, it will end up looking like a female fest.

yeah.. Trump's already said he's considering never hiring a male again!

okay.. so Sam's leaving didn't help.. the men lost AGAIN!!

This time they had to run Planet Hollywood in Time Square for a day and the team that generated the most money for the day won..

Once again the girls were on top.. they had a numerical advantage too so they could be everywhere.. and they were more aggressive.. at times using their sexuality AGAIN..

They earned the most in the merchandizing and by selling shots in a 'Hooterisque' environment..

Anyways the guys were a bore.. Bouey was fired.. the Girls got to go Golfing on Donald's course.. but he did ask them to 'tone down' that exploitation of sexuality cuz he was looking for a CEO for his company..

what day does this come on..
i happened to catch the last two episodes but that was just by chance.

it's on Thursdays after Friends I think..

they keep moving it around depending on the 'competition' from other channels.. and show at least one Repeat during the week.. in fact they're gonna repeat it tonight 7:00p.m Central

"Meet the S*HOOTER* girls!"?? gimme a break!

The girls did have an effective (maybe a lil pushy - but it worked!) internal operations strategy by capitalizing cross-selling opportunities.

oh we watched lil bit of it in our class. looked pretty good i shud watch it :D

What about this week’s episode? Trump split the teams. Two guys and 4 girls in each team. I think this was the best episode so far. My most favorite is Nick! And in the women my favorite is Amy! and now they are both on the same team. It was pretty sad to see Kristi get fired but the dumbass dint even say anything in her defense :smack:

well guys and dolls we’re at the cutting edge of critical thinking here.. look at the others catching up:

Breast for Success
What’s really behind the sex-sells antics on The Apprentice

No one disputes that the women’s conduct is effective: The show mostly just proves that prostitution really is the world’s oldest and most lucrative profession. But debate rages over whether it’s appropriate in today’s business world

so in last week's episode the teams had to get five celebrities to commit something to be auctioned for a Charity for kids..

Omorossa was elected leader of the team which lost..

In the boardroom Donald once again emphasized the need to 'stand up for yourself' and Jessie got fired..

things are getting interesting..

Jesse did a lame job in defending herself. I mean why in the world would you take crap from Omarosa :smack:

Btw, I am not really impressed by the assignments Trump gives the teams.

yeah this one was kind of a plug.. but then again it was a charitable affair.. much of the program is about Trump and his 'empire' so the audience is expected to "tolerate" that I guess..

I think the next assignment hits closer to home.. they will be asked to renovate an apartment and rent/sell it for the highest.. that's exactly what they would be managing if selected as President of Trumps company..
