I don’t know why I never heard about this before?!! I think it is a great invention..especially because the rapist has to go to a hospital to get it removed!

A South African doctor has created a female condom that puts teeth in the fight against rape.
Literally.
The anti-rape condom, called “Rape-aXe,” features rows of jagged hooks designed to attach to a man’s penis during penetration. Once attached, the condom can only be removed by a doctor - hopefully when authorities can arrest him, Dr. Sonnet Ehlers, the condom’s designer, told CNN.
“It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it’s on,” she said. “If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter… however, it doesn’t break the skin, and there’s no danger of fluid exposure.”
They had also distributed 30,000 of these devices to women in the cities hosting the football world cup in 2010. “The mother of two daughters said she visited prisons and talked to convicted rapists to find out whether such a device would have made them rethink their actions,” CNN reported. “Some said it would have.”
Very disturbing but a great idea. Disturbing is because of the realization that how serious the crime of rape is.
However how effective this would be, only God knows. What would stop the rapist to check the potential victim for this device using Adobe other cruel method?
There is only one sure shot way of reducing this crime. Punishment by death.

I am nor sure how a rapist's mind would work...but I would think he would be deranged with lust and wouldn't think much about what they are doing....
But yeaa..it does put the victim in danger...the rapist might even try to kill her...but I don't know if he is in a lot of pain if he could even manage doing anything...this is ofcoz after he figures out that this thing is stuck on him...

Don't think it would make a difference. Afterall stats prove capital punishment in no way reduces crimes or in no way act as a deterrent. Sickos will be sickos regardless of the punishment as they know full well the consequences of their actions
Quite true..a psycho can use anything as a weapon. I was also wondering about the comfort part of it…but then if I was living in a crazy city..I wouldn’t really care about if it was comfortable or not.
But I will try to find more info about the trials they did in Africa during the world cup.

Not that I am a big fan of public beheading but crime rate of Saudi is pretty low because of harsh punishments

ohhh…and I found another anti-rape condom that was invented by a man…it was on wiki…this one is really scary…I don’t know if they have it on the market…didn’t have time to google that…but here is some info on this one :

It might work initially. But when it gets common enough perps will switch to the opening next door. And I'm pretty sure it's not the most comfortable thing on the planet.
And what if you get really drunk, forget you have the thing in you and then take a guy home. Ouch!
Most rapes aren't committed by strangers who physically overpower a woman in a violent way. Unlike the violent gang rape cases you hear in the news. They actually make up a small percentage of rapes.
These days the definition of rape is very broad. Its rape when a guy takes a woman on a date, he makes a move sexually, she says no, but he keeps insisting and persuading her until she changes her mind and says Yes. This is defined as rape.
Its also rape when a guy emotionally blackmails or threatens a girl to have sex with him.
So what kind of rape is this device aimed to protect against? In the latter case the situation is much more complex.

We can also make an argument for states like Norway and Sweden where crime rate is nothing yet their punishment system is very lax. Having lived in KSA I can pretty much say with certainty that crimes like rape etc do happen, they just don't get reported.
The only people who I have ever read about being executed are non-Arab poor desis. Which says it all imo.
