The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

I find it extremely interesting that discussions on PA focus on an American mainstay. That of personality over substance. Rehman Malik, Altaf Hussien, Zardari. Nawaz Sharif. A good majority of the time the discussions on this forum revolve around the personality and dogma of a specific televangelists (in this case the person is a Muslim but the word works) be it NFP or Ziad Hamid. It doesn’t really matter who the person is there are people who ardently support him and those who absolutely hate them.

When we make personalities great than the debate itself, you lose out on substance.

Do you all feel this is a specific case for PA or it applies to Pakistan as well.

Blind support for Altaf Hussein, ZA Bhutto (and his family) should tell you a lot.

Re: The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

Yes it does. And its amazing people with a decent education act like peasants from the 1600s.

Re: The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

^welcome back.......u need to share the secret of magic wand which gets u unbanned :D

and ...... the reason for peasantry behavior is simple......''emotional beings''.....

Re: The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

Altaf spread a wave of ethnicity and racism with the help of Military rulers. So his followers are limited.
Bhutto was a great leader and brutally assassinated by a dirty military ruler so after him this was a movement for restoration of democracy led by his daughter.
There is no blind follower of Bhutto. All are wise and understand the reason to support Bhutto.

Re: The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

See? Personality over substance. For no reason whatsoever.

Re: The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

Restoration of democracy.
After 1958
Pakistanis are doing this only.
The people who led them
After all persons leads the nation.
I knew the reason ,Why most of you here of my ........

Americani*s*ation.

Re: The Americanization of Pakistani discourse

Sad. Institutions build and lead countries. That is why in a democracy people change. Leaders change. Democracy is not built around personalities.
