I have heard that Ashfaq Ahmed's "Gadaria" is inspired by Alchemist. I haven't read Gararia. Can someone confirm?

i read this book long time ago, dont recall properly. but one thing i'm sure, gadaria is not one story, its a collection of short stories. mostly dating back to united India or right after creation of Pakistan. one story was about a young boy who had a hindu teacher or someone who encouraged him to study. there was something superficial in the village where they lived. cant recall anymore.
doesn't look anything like The Alchemist

Gadaria was published in 1940s. How come a novel written in recent years can be inspiration for earlier written short story?
On a separate note, I personally think Ashfaq Ahmed was way better writer than Paulo.

It could be the other way around then. :D
Coelho, for me, is overrated. His books after alchemist were disappointing for me. He tried to use the same forumula for his later books. It all becomes much repetitive.
