I swear by time:
Man is lost
Except he who believes,
Does the good deeds,

The Backbiter
Misery be upon him who
is a backbiter, a slanderer
and he who has
gathered riches and
counts them over and over,
thinking his riches will
make him live forever.
No. He’ll be pushed into a crusher.
Does he know what a crusher is?
It’s the fire of God, ablaze
that will roar over him,
covering him
in columns spread far.

I have rendered section 103 and 104 from ten other translations into free verse.
