Here is another dissection.
Moore if challenged in a fair forum wouldn’t do very well defending his work as anything other than what it is. Editorial films with a point of view. It is very sad that the majority of people consider this “documentary” and thus a more unvarnished look at the facts.
I think someone said that if the Bush admin was tied into this small group of people who run the machinery of the world for their benefit, how come Mr. Moore doesn’t wind up dead somewhere? A group who can wage war at their whim, control the world markets, cannot do something about one man who can do so much damage to their agenda?
The real problem with a lot of this crap is that it is so well packaged that people swallow it hook line and sinker. I was at a "Sting" concert last week, and Sting proclaimed that it is everyones "patriotic duty" to see the film. WTF? He is a Brit, and he is telling us about our "patriotic" duty?
Some of the analysis of Moores basic contentions like the above articles is available, but no one will bother to research it, and accept Moores propaganda at face value. Long before Moore came up with it, I researched the "Afghan Pipeline". Having a reasonable business backround, I asked three questions, was a pipeline reasonable given the security in Afghanistan?, and how far along were discussions on the pipeline with the Afghans? and what were the alternatives to get oil out of the Caspian Region?
My conclusions were that unless there was absolute security conditions a pipeline was unreasonable. The discussions with the Taliban did not progress very far, and even preliminary studies were not done. And there were plenty of way to move the oil out of the Capsian basin.
YET STILL, Moore brings up this left wing chant of "It's about the oil!", and presses his conclusion, no matter how the facts actually lined up.
Oddly enough, the stock set to benefit the most from Kerry winning the election is Halliburton! Halliburton is getting killed by asbestos claims. They bought a company that had historic asbestos claims that were not known at the time of the acquisition. Yet Bush/Cheney cannot propose any kind of tort reform or limits on asbestos claims, as it would look like favoritism to Halliburton. Leftists hold out Halliburton as some universal evil, and really the business in Iraq will not generate much profit at all, compared to the losses from the asbestos claims....
The real problem is that Bush is such a poor communicator, that no effective counter message gets out. As opposed to Reagan, Bush is the "Anti-Teflon" president. Everything sticks. The Pentagon is even worse.
