That awkward moment when it’s raining and you get into the passenger seat of the car that resembles yours and starts saying something in urdu when you turn around, see its a woman half your husband’s height and jump out mumbling apologies.

When N came to see me from Toronto for our rishta, she cooked a big pot of biryani for me, Kashmiri girls are awesome cooks, I had not eaten desi food in years and I used to spend hours in the gym, I just could not stop eating the biryani and ate the whole pot, my digestive system could not handle the greasy stuff and I was puking all night, here this poor girl sees me for the first time and hears me puking all night long. She now tells me that she wanted to tell me to stop eating but she was too shy. We still laugh about it.
