thats not quite true except from the point of view of the government. Check out the plight of the Ogoni people and the rest of the people living in the Niger Delta. It has brought a lot of money to a few people and foreign companies (Shell mostly) but has largly not helped most of the communities in the immediate region where the oil exploitation is been done.

100,000's if not millions in both Nigeria and Cameroon already greatly benefit. Not just people in cities but villagers like the ogoni....the bayangi in Cameroon literally coudn't live without petroleum products....everything from medicine to waterproofing to fuel to plastics.

Sorry, I didn’t read through the entire thread, but what were you doing in Cameroon? How long did you stay there for? How did you find the experience? Would you ever like to go back for a visit? What was your least/most favoured part of the overall trip? Where did you stay? What is the currency exchange rate?
