Dressing (not sure what kind… I need some ideas)(What kind of bread tastes best in dressing?)
String beans in onions mashrooms pecan alfredo sauce
Chicken… baked with simple garlic herb butter.
Cranberry Sauce
Gravey
Salad…dried cranberries, greens, pecans, tomatoes, maybe some fetta cheese or cottage cheese, and maybe some chopped apples too with light rasberry dressing.
Sauted vegetables… carrots, celery, corn and I guess I will add more seasonal vegetables to it.
I want to make some sort of pumpkin loaf or pumpkin cookies but I need a tested recipe.
I am also leaning on pumpkin soup.
So far this what I have in my mind. Share your thanksgiving menus and give me more ideas
this thanksgiving i will be alone so i don't think i'll cook anything special :-\
lusi, what kind of gravy will you be making? chicken, i presume?
last year i had -
turkey, roasted vegetables, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry ginger sauce, cheese manicotti and for dessert cheesecake and persimon ensemble. oh, i had veggie cheese pinwheels for appetizers.
i'd love the recipe for pumpkin soup if you can find a good one.
Ira, Thanks! :) I would say go with some poultry but keep the season sort of americanish. You can also make fish. What kind of stuffing/dressing are you making
Nimko... yes, the gravy will be chicken base but I will give it a kick and take it to another level (hopefully) :D
Sara, and HSP...you guys are very much welcome! :D
is that right?! just see how blindly i trusted you!
but yeah, i can confirm to GS that if ur recipes sound delicious, they taste even better. esp if u come over and cook them urself :D
ever seen a christian / hindu / jew / whatever celebrating eid? hum musalmano ko kuch ziada hi aag lagi hui hai haar tehwar mananay ki...haloween, thanx givings....x-mas...new year...muslim har jaga agay hi agay...aur jahan hona chahiaye wahan sab se peechay...besharam ummah.
saein this is the wrong thread and forum for you. We are not "celebrating" anything here, we are talking about what foods to cook. Last time i checked no food equalled a "tahwaar".

Thanksgiving is not a religious celebration. Its a national day off where its the custom to make certain types of food.
Thanksgiving, also known as Thanksgiving Day, is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. It is primarily a North Americanholiday which has generally become a national secular holiday with religious origins.
Key word above secular!
I didn’t know there was anything wrong with muslims gathering with their family members and being thankful… :nono4:
But maybe you didn’t know the definition of Thanksgiving and the reason why its celebrated so widely in North America…
mano..actually at the end I changed my mind so didn't quite make the garlic herb butter chicken...
What I did today was marinate chicken with yougurt, garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, little red pepper, and lemon juice. Marinated it over night. Then today I baked at 350 degrees. for almost an 50 with cover. Then just brushed the chicken with some butter and leave it in oven for like 5-10 mins at 300 degrees.
For garlic herb butter...mix garlic powder and italian seasoning in the butter with pinch of salt. When chicken is done just spread some of the butter on the chicken and leave it in oven for 5 mins or so on low heat then you baked the chicken.
