I require some assistance with thank you letters. I haven’t sent one in the past, however, I do plan on sending them after future job interviews. Therefore, I’d like to look at some examples that I can use to create one.
Also, I have a co-op workterm beginning January, 05, insha’Allah. I was wondering if I could get some tips to successfully complete a work report at the end of the term.
I went through the co-op booklet and the work report looked very intense and challenging.
it is very good practice to engage in sending thank you letters and notes. Almost everytime I send one, I do it the next day... and it may just be a coincidence, but I get an offer from the employers too.
You can find good samples on Monster and About.com
You need to personalize it a little bit - talk about something you discussed in the interview that interested you... something they told you about the job that fits well with what you have done in the past and where you want to go etc. - interviewers esp. if they happen to be HR people usually like that.
Finally, for co-op evals, does your school not have a standard form that you'd fill out. I remember I had this long-a$$ form that I had to complete at the end of the term, and part of the form was completed by my immediate manager... although it did have a section asking to write about my experiences - good./bad/value etc.
If you want, I can look around for it and send it to you. Just PM me.
Umar, yeah I sorta wanna create a few sample cover letters and have’em checked by my coop advisor and/or else I’ll put’em here for feedback.
Thanks for the advice. I’ll be sure to incorporate it in the letter(s).
Unfortunately, coop evalulation is no longer as simple as filling out the evalulation form. Yes, we do have those. Employer fills out one and I believe student does too. Over and above, I have got to write a professional report. It has to be something that needs improvement or can be improved. So it has to have a summary, main body (10-15 pages double spaced), recommendation, conclusion, etc.
It’s actually this part of the coop work-term that is freaking me out. It is going to be very long and detailed.
^^ aah see I din't have to do one of those for co-ops, but had one for my MBA internship... the best way to work on it would be to keep a diary with headings that you have to fill in your report and keep jotting points in the duary throughout your term, because you often think of something that you wanna make a mental note of putting in your report and then you forget.
