Thanda ya Garam (Hot or cold)

In my home, whenever guests visit my elder ask them to tell their preference on hot or cold drink (app thanda lain gain ya garam)?

In some instance, chai pani chalay ga?

What is the traditional question you ask from your guest about their preference on food and drink?

Unless the guests are relatives I serve them soft drinks. In case one of them refuses a soft drink I ask them if they'd like tea or coffee or anything else .
If guests are my relatives I ask them what kinda tea they'd like cuz I already know they'd want tea (except one uncle who drinks coffee only)

Re: Thanda ya Garam (Hot or cold)

because we live in a cold country, we always offer tea or coffee or hot drinks and if someone in particular refuses a warm drink we then offer then juices .. I dont usually ask , I just offer !

Re: Thanda ya Garam (Hot or cold)

Usually it depends on weather, and as Pakistan is a hot country, mostly guests are served with cold drinks specially Pepsi, Coke and 7up, only A Few go for tea.. But in winters, table turns around and people demands for tea as well as Coffee..

But I like tea even in Hot Summer :chai: and hum bila jhijak isi ka kehte hain :emmy:

Re: Thanda ya Garam (Hot or cold)

I don’t know about asking guests, but when I am asked by a host, my answer is:

“Pehlay thanDa, phir garam.” :chai:

Re: Thanda ya Garam (Hot or cold)

Chai peeyengay ya ice cream, cold drink, usually serve at our own choice, usually ask our close relatives, or they already tell us what they would like to have, and it becomes easy, it depends if its shaam ka time tu chai he works warna drink.

Re: Thanda ya Garam (Hot or cold)

we usually don't ask, just serve what we think is appropriate, depending upon person/time/weather etc.
