What do you do with your old textbooks?
And do you even read them…or do you buy them more for peace of mind…(knowing you have them for reference if need be)

I buy the textbooks because I need to the course if I cant borrow from the library. So far I have not open any of my books after the exam has finished but maybe in future, let see :)
Re: textbooks?
I buy text books but never use em. I get good grades alhum without even opening my books. I just make do with my slides etc that are uploaded on blackboard.
Re: textbooks?
Do you sell your textbooks afterward, or keep them all....(and then get depressed looking at them..cause you never opened them and some of them were just a complete waste of money!!!!) ...i'm not speaking from personal experience or anything :P
Re: textbooks?
BAD malikah!!
sell them or give them to library or local mosque.
Re: textbooks?
lol Jimmy...its been a while since I heard that!!
yea I sell the ones that I know I will never use...and keep the ones that may be needed for future courses....but the textbooks are just piling up and taken over my bookshelf!! (I'm a bit of a hoarder in that sense) And i can't really donate most of them to the masjid as they are mostly finance related and deal with interest etc :S (BAD MALIKA) hehe
But yea I guess the other non finance related ones I could donate and help some poor student save some big time cash!!! (Cause seriously these books aren't cheap!!)
Re: textbooks?
U know what I do is not what I studied.
So I did buy tons of books, many many many time after reading first few chapters I knew it wasn't what I was looking for.
So some books which could be of common interest I gave them to library.(plus resale value was low :D)
More specialized ones I sold them on amazon. I knew I would not find many ppl needing them any ways,
sell some. keep some. and sometimes not look at them....ever.
Re: textbooks?
I made a proper study in the new house, bought a gorgeous looking bookshelf and neatly stacked all the books, just to show ppl how intellectual and parha likha i am :D
Seriously
^ I have that idea in my mind but there are some few years left before I can put all my books on the bookshelf!
Re: textbooks?
Yea I have started taken over the family bookshelf as well...cause the one on my room is full....but man is that ever some expensive decorations!!
Re: textbooks?
Undergrad- I bought the first term books and resold to buy next terms after that, always worked out and I almost never had to buy a book out of pocket.
Grad school- I only buy what's recommended by upper termers, and will be needing most of these throughout my career so not throwing them out except a few review books. I don't like oversized study areas and libraries, not definately not building one. I like the idea of selling/donating whatever you don't want, depending on how much you need money right now.
Re: textbooks?
AM I only one here, who read most of her textbooks? I didn't read everything.. but most :) I gave some away and the few that I actually 'Liked' (yes I loved some of my textbooks), I Kept those and still have a few. Never read them again though.. but just like that.
Re: textbooks?
LOL I don't even have time to read my textbooks. For me, knowledge comes in my mind and immediately I have to spread it so there is no time! I buy books for the heck of it and then they just make my room look untidy all year around.
Re: textbooks?
I gave away some, sold some and kept the ones that were interesting.
