Re: Texas?

How is TX for IT jobs?

I think it depends on skill sets and how in demand those skills are. But as far as I have heard from friends, if you have a decent paying job (50-60K) you can make a modest to good living in some cities (Houston, Dallas) as housing costs are still lower as compared to NY/NJ/ etc.

Re: Texas?

I know someone who moved from TX (about a few years ago)with family to MA and this is how they defined it..

baby food in TX.. 3 jars for $1
baby food in NY/NJ.. 2 jars for $1
baby food in Boston.. 1 jar for $1

you do the math :-D

I have been told that salary range in TX is lower than in NY/NJ area but housing cost is also lower so someone in 50-60K can have a better standard of living than the person making same amount in north east.

Re: Texas?

^ yeah but other things can offset the cost of teh baby food.

Ex/ I've seen food is pretty expensive in Mississauga, but rents are much cheaper.

Re: Texas?

Houses are really cheap. The problem is because new houses are cheap too, resale of a house is a major issue. Other than that, this is true that cost of living in TX is pretty low as compared to MA. TX does not have any state tax too.

Beta ji .... people with MBA from well respected universities are sitting home.

so hang in there inshallah your time will come soon

It all depends... live close to a major airport you will have good jobs then.

IT people are usually flying all over

Re: Texas?

well its not as exciting as I thought it would be...
If someone was to ask you name 1 thing you love about Texas...what would you say?

Re: Texas?

^ Land, lots and lots of land. I like the weather also. Very Pakistan like. Cost of living is very low.

Lovely!!! State tax(Property) is more than half my mortgage :(

I get 1.5 jas of baby food for $1, only when it is on sale.

Re: Texas?

when u say pakistan like...you mean hot like pakistan??
