^ the question of surrogate siblings being maHram doesn't arise because Islam does NOT allow surrogacy. womb rental/volunteering is not permitted in Islam.

Re: Test tube baby(ivf) allowed in islam?
There are a lot of grey and very black areas around surrogacy. It results in exploitation of women by rich couples. Yhere are a lot of documentarirs where women in poorer countries are forced by circumstances and their families to go through it. It would be very difficult to part with a child i have carried and given birth to. There is not much emotional support for these women afterwards. Ethically for me surrogacy especially paid aurrogacy doesn't sit well with me.
Re: Test tube baby(ivf) allowed in islam?
We didn't consult some random self appointed internet quack mufti. Our Imam is a world renowned scholar and academic and is actually known for his moderate views. This is pretty much how he broke it down for me and I have to say, as a person who is moderate as well in terms of religion, I do agree that using a third parties body as a gestational carrier can open up a whole can of worms and problems for all involved. When using a sperm or egg donor, obviously paternity and lineage is at stake. When using a uterine host/gestational carrier/surrogate, again, lineage and claims to the child are questionable. Though biologicaly, the child may not belong to the surrogate, she is carrying another man's child which crosses into the territory of Zina.
The Council of the Islamic Fiqh Academy holding its third session, in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, From 8 to 13 Safar 1407 H (11 to 16 October 1986), after having reviewed the studies on the subject of “Artificial insemination” and having listened to the experts and physicians, and after investigation, It became evident to the Council that there are seven (7) known methods, used nowadays, for artificial insemination: Hence, the council decided on the following: Firstly, the following five (5) methods are all Islamically forbidden and absolutely prohibited for its own sake or due to the consequences manifested in employing them of the lineage being confused and loss of motherhood and other Shariah prohibited matters. These methods are: 1) The fertilization taking place between the sperm taken from the husband and the eggs taken from a woman who is not his wife, and then the fertilized ovum being implanted into the womb of his wife. 2) The fertilization taking place between the sperm taken from a man who is not the husband and the eggs taken from the wife, and then the fertilized ovum being implanted into the womb of the wife. 3) The fertilization taking place in-vitro between the sperm and the eggs taken from the spouses, and then the fertilized ovum being implanted into the womb of a volunteer woman (i.e. surrogate motherhood). 4) The fertilization taking place in-vitro between the sperm of a man and eggs of a woman who are both strangers to one another, and then the fertilized ovum being implanted into the womb of another man’s wife. 5) The fertilization taking place in-vitro between the sperm and the eggs taken from the spouses, and then the fertilized ovum is implanted into the womb of the husband’s other wife. Secondly, there is no problem in resorting to the sixth or seventh method, in case of necessity, provided all required precautions are taken. These two methods are: 7) The sperm of the husband and the eggs of the wife are taken and fertilized in-vitro, and then the fertilized ovum is implanted into the womb of the wife. 8) Artificial insemination, by taking the sperm of the husband and inserting it in the appropriate place of his wife’s womb, for fertilization. (See: Qararat wa tawsiyyat Majma’ al-Fiqh al-Islami, P. 34-35)
I'm having the same challenges understanding this as TLK.
My heart agrees but my mind says no, there is room.
The part about lineage is clear. Perhaps we need to delve further into understanding what is meant by: loss of motherhood.
There are references in the Quran about the gestational period and actual labour/delivery resulting in specific rights associated with motherhood. Would any of those come into question if the first 5 methods were employed?

Please stop using the term "test tube" when referring to IVF or other fertility procedures.
There comes a point in time when you need to start using your own common sense and opinions vs just relying on preachers. If you truly feel it's not allowed in Islam then so be it. Make your peace with the fact that this is what Allah has planned for you and move on. But if your heart of hearts is telling you that you are not violating your religious convictions by seeking the help of IVF to concieve, then go forward with it with a clear conscience and trust that Allah is all knowing and forgiving and is blessing you every step of the way.
Stop looking for validation and answers from outside sources and make your own informed decision then stick with it.
