why coz’ danny is a hindu playing in a pakistani side! grow up :nono: this isnt the 1st time a hindu is playing for pak side, as i recall correctly ** Anil Dalpat ** about 20 years ago a hindu played briefly for pakistan!!! danny’s 1st cousin!!!

Profile:

Wisden Overview

The first Hindu to play Test cricket for Pakistan, Anil Dalpat was one of several wicketkeepers given a chance after the retirement of Wasim Bari. On his debut, against England at Karachi in 1983-84, Dalpat kept well to the spin of Abdul Qadir as Pakistan won by three wickets. In his nine Tests, he made 25 dismissals and a highest score of 52 against New Zealand at Karachi in 1984-85.

Dalpat is the first cousin of Danish Kaneria, who made his Test debut for Pakistan in the 2000-01 series against England. **In 1983-84 Dalpat dismissed 67 batsmen, a Pakistan domestic record. ** :k:

Well said. Why should his religion make any difference. He is a Paksitani, playing for his national side. That is all there is to it. Don’t try and read too much into it.

The previous guy to play for Pakistan was Anil Dalpat and yes he played against India in Melbourne in the mini world cup in 1985. Kaneria is a cousin of Dalpat.

Yes and he dropped some key catches in that match and Pakistan went on to lose the match and the championship. Javed was the captain in that tournament, but was replaced by Imran Khan soon afterwords and first thing he did was that he axed Anil Dilput and replaced him with a new wicket keeper, who i think was Salim Yousuf.

Yup I was on the ground and watched in agony as the catches went down. But to be fair that was the first time Dalpat was keeping for Imran, as Imran had come back after his long injury. He dropped if I can remember correctly Gavaskar and Azhar.

Taufeeq Umar.

oyye my friend :p I know that Nanni Danni is not the first hindu player for pakistan but it was ANIL DALAPAT SONAWARIA,who is uncle to Nanni Danni.......

I said 1because of some reasons’and it has nothing to do with religion.well, ysince you people have brought that religious flavour ,I would like to ask you ,then why the hell Danni said INSHA ALLAH' and ALLAH KI SHUKAR HAIN’etc after he was selected as man of the man along with Toufeeq Ummer(?) ,at the closing ceremony of the second test match between pakistan and South Africa?

Is not that because of the fact that he just like any other minority member in pakistan faces too much pressure from fundementalists?

The way you left out the reasons brought up the thought that you are talking about religion, if its not religion then why not share it us here?

Besides, how many of us MUSLIMS say "Inshallah" "Mashallah" knowingly what it means? These terms have become "cultural", just like "Hello", "Assalamu alaikum" etc.

Yes I agree it is cultural rather than anything else. I was in Saudi for a long time and noticed nearly all non muslims including westerners using words like "Inshallah" and "Ma sallama" all the time. It is the enviornment you are living in.
