PCB has founded the basis of division in the team with this decision, if Afridi has to be the captain, then y they make him for a tour or two.. why not permanently??? I am afraid that English Tour might be action-re-play of Australian tour were players will form groups and in-order to undermine the captain, will perform below par...
no one but PCB to blame for grouping in the team..

I think we need to look at the other possibility before making this assessment.
Lets assume that someone else (Butt, Akmal, Asif) is made captain for the test team. That person will be a part of ODI team as well. Being a test captain, playing under someone else who is senior to you, he will have captaincy ambitions for all formats and THAT my friend, will create divisions more than this possibility!
We need a period of stability and cohesion in these times. Afridi may not have a great test record but he does have the kind of presence in the dressing room that is required right now.
I don't care who is captain but whoever He is, he need to be appointed on permanent basis and not for series or two.. otherwise it would be same as what we have seen in Australia, players not performing because they want to fail the captain....
I think we should add a non-playing (many already dont play) captain in the team who is included only for his leadership and conflict management skills..

The fact that the team responded to Afridi's call in the semi-final has a lot to do with this decision. PCB and the fans are looking for stability and if this is what it takes then we will play tests with 10 'players'.
Afridi will be the 'stability' factor (I never thought I would write Afridi and stability in the same sentence).

and it is pathetic for the PCB to let any of these players come back. they all deserve life bans for the kind of shenanigans they were involved in. every player who took the oath deserves a life ban.

nope. he deserved a longer ban than the 1 yr ban he got because of the kinds of things he was involved with - as did some other players.
I don't worship individual players like Afridi fanboys.
What is the latest on the fines on Afridi and Akmal?
I'm sure all penalties are excused. It is high time, they should excuse them before the nation reacts to upcoming dismal performances.
