Test Bowlers: Centurions and Double Centurions in a Test Series

Despite India’s woeful bowling displays this series, it is not the worst performance ever by a bowling unit in a test series. That ignominy is jointly shared by West Indies and Australia.

The world record is 15 hundreds conceded by:
**

  1. West Indies **
The Frank Worrell Trophy (West Indies in Australia), 1968/69
    6 Bowlers in 5 Tests & 15 100s.

**2) Australia **
The Ashes (Australia in England), 1985
6 Bowlers in 5 Tests & 15 100s.

Indian bowlers in contrast conceded a disappointing 12 hundreds during the recently concluded test series against England (6 different bowlers in 7 innings)

P Kumar 2 centuries 5/106 - 4/124 - 98*

I Sharma 3 centuries 0/128 - 2/131 - 1/159

H Singh 1 century 0/152

S Sreesanth 2 centuries 2/135 - 0/158 - 3/123

A Mishra 3 centuries 3/150 **0/129 ***

RP Singh 1 century **0/118 **

Re: Test Bowlers: Centurions and Double Centurions in a Test Series

It is not even an Indian record! They have twice conceded 13 hundreds against Pakistan

**1) India in Pakistan Test Series, 1982/83 **
Bowlers: 5 Tests: 6 100s: 13

2) India in Pakistan Test Series, 2005/06
Bowlers: 6 Tests: 3 100s: 13

Pakistani bowlers gave up only 4 100s (Asif, Danish, Razzaq, Akhtar) in 2005/6 series, all 4 in one test (Faisalabad)

Re: Test Bowlers: Centurions and Double Centurions in a Test Series

Pakistan’s worst is 14 hundreds

**Pakistan in Australia Test Series, 1983/84
**Bowlers: 5 Tests: 5 100s: 14

Re: Test Bowlers: Centurions and Double Centurions in a Test Series

**Bowlers who have conceded 100 runs in an innings 25 or more times in their career

**Ian Botham is the top pacer in that list. As one would expect spinners suffer more than most with 4 leggies in there including Warne.

Murali is at the top because the more matches you play, the more stats/numbers/100s (good or bad) you gather.

But if you sort the list by bowling averages, you can see that Murali and Warne are still the best even when they went for 100 runs per innings

^ I am surprised Kaneria is not in 200 runs list.

MH Mankad - didn't realize Vinoo Mankad's actual name was MH Mankad. Vinoo must have been a nicknamme.

Re: Test Bowlers: Centurions and Double Centurions in a Test Series

I think it is OK if the bowler get the 100+ mark at the average of below 2.5 runs per over... Like Sarfaraz Nawaz above, bowled 50 overs and conceded 100 plus runs at the average of 2 runs per over is not that bad as far as runs are concerned..

Re: Test Bowlers: Centurions and Double Centurions in a Test Series

This is arguably the worst performance ever as 13 hundreds were conceded in just 3 tests!!
