^^ yes, and although some individuals have taken that path, that is not the identity of Pakistan. That is mainly media hype.
Did you ever go to an american site saying say no to serail murder, particularly on the 4th of July?
If western media is hyping the act of a few Pakistani individuals, why do we have to join them? Why not promote all that is good about Pakistan? This way we can tell them yes there is some problem in our ranks but that is not what this "land of the pure" is all about.
Terrorism is not just a Pakistani problem, yet we donot see other countries flying anti terrorism banners on independence days.
I dont think the banner gives an appropriate Independence day message.
America just after 9/11 was crying unity and "anti-terrorism' sentiment. Yes, other countries don't do that but how many of them have over 200 dead because of suicide attacks? How many of them have the exact same problem of terrorism like we do?
big difference MWAP. America was blaming others, we are blaming ourselves. Anyway this is not my site, i just visit.
Next year display the kooRa khanas of Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad, Sialkot and all over the country. After all Pakistan is a dirty place too and we need to improve the civic sense of its citizens, what better occasion than Independence day.
Dude, you are just looking at one banner. If you go to other forums, like cafe, audio, video, kk, pk1 etc...this is not the only thing we are talking about. It does not in anyway ruins Independence day when we show unity against terrorism.
well i dont know if you guys have a seperate banner for every forum and neither am i going to go check it. I noticed the terrorism headlines in one banner, whatever forum it may be, and thought it didnt represent the Independence day spirit.
since when did i become a fringe loonie ehsan bhai. i understand ashtray is terrified of me but u know theres a cuddly little teddy bear inside this hard exterior of mine
What is media hype? That beheadings are becoming more and more common Pakistan? That suicide bombigns have occurred in increasing frequency? That violent terrorism is being taught to children in madrassahs? Which one of this is media hype?
"Media hype" is declaring Pakistan a terrorist nation as if that is all we do. The current terrorism in Pakistan is very political, western media has hyped it as if we are the ones producing and sending out suicide bombers all across the world. I cannot recall any Pakistani who was caught in an international terrorist act or blamed for. Please do not mention the British bombings, as the dynamics are totally different.
Bombing frequency in Pakistan was much higher during the height of Afghan war, fortunately there were no 24 hour international or local news channels to hype it.
The total number of bombings since the lal masjid issue are less than what karachi used to have in probably a month in the 80s. The current death toll fades in comparison to the number of killings in Karachi and peshawar during the late 80s and early 90s, or the sipah-e-sahaba/ sipah-e-mohammadi killings in punjab.
Anyway you pulled me into this by picking up one phrase which is not what the thread is about. My issue was/ is showing slides after slides of terrorism headlines in a banner at the time of Independence day. This is a day to celebrate our freedom, we can discuss terrorism the rest of the 364 days of the year. This is a day to show our acievements, not display what a .01% minority is doing. Who is this message of say no to terrorism for? How many terrorists, suicide bombers do we have on GS? What about you me and all the other peaceful people?

the beheadings are still less than the drilled bodies found in ditches in karachi, did we ever celebrate a "say no to drilled corpses" independence day?
