absolutely. whenever visiting Pakistan, I strictly tell my wife not to go out to markets unless absolutely needed. when I talk to my parents and my bro back home, I make sure they are not going out on these special celebrations....

dude, its a suicidal mission out there to go out and do any religious gathering. Youm-e-Ali., Youm-e-Omar, Youm-e-abu bakar can wait. Those 29 people had wives and moms and kids. Organizers of such events should think twice before arranging such marches and Interior Ministry should think twice before giving permission.
I am talking about saving the life of our innocent citizens from these barbaric terrorists. Whatever caution is required should be taken.

No they should not. They should just be prudent and this is not for Shias only. Its for everyone. All of these "Days" be it Youm-e-Ali or "Youm-e-Sahaba" can wait for good times. This will not have any effect on religion and sect everyone follow. I guess.

you see yome Ali is not the problem here. they could have striked them even at a mosque. even at a small gathering. what next? abandon everything? Those who are hellbent on propagating terror may continue to attack shias even if the marches are stopped, they probably will start attacking the imam bargahs but i agree with TLK that suspending processions for the time being will be a sensible thing to do. But i dont think the Mullahs will agree to it. Mufti Muneeb was requested to call off Eid Milad procession but he did not agree. And with passage of time processions keep on increasing.

Giest, there is no disrespect to shia faith or its followers, suicide bombings are happening everywhere and religious intolerance is at such a height that its better to stick to what is obligatory (prayers in mosque) and delay what is not even nafl (jalsay, juloos). This is as D6C said, for any religion or faith.

processions are just one of the alternatives. there are imam bargahs and target killing! shias cant be safe until and unless that hate syndrome is eradicated. abandoning processions, imam bargarhs etc would only strengthen those animals.

meri jaan, (I hope you are a guy :D) .. haq to hai aap ka juloos nikalna lekin apni jaan kee hifazat aap ka farz hai. In janwaron (dehshatgardon) ka to kuch bhee nahi jaata, becahray maasom loug maaray jaatay hain.

id just like to add that they constituted a minority at that time and it made perfect sense. now its this small percentage of freaks terrorising a much larger percentage (sunnis + shias). also, suppose shias quit this yome Ali. should they feel safe during moharram? alryt lets quit moharram as well and lets stick to the prayers at the mosque. possibility of a suicide attack? i believe so.. lets now abandon the mosque as well. target killing? statiscally it wouldnt make a difference
