Terrorist attack in Gaza, 195 dead

how come the firing of the 70 rockets was not reported? It was not in the news.

I remember about 2 years ago - there was a missile from the hamaz aimed at the Israeli's and that killed 2 people. That was in the NEWS 24/7 for a month.

Israel needs to stop making up stories.
(It's very sad - overall I have Genuine Hindu friends and a jewish friend. We get along fine. It's the politics, the greed of wanting more land, and the need to make oneself feel more superior - is reflecting on the world terribly.)

All you Hindus on this board - Chintu Bhopali, That Cxyz kid, that punjabee kid, and more - I know very well that in person YOU WOULD BE NICE - then why do you have so much hatered inside. None of you have FIRST HAND experience with your colleagues. They have not given you any reasons to hate - Then why? Why so much hate towards US when you know US well?)

**Think about how evil Hamas is - escalating this conflict, KNOWING your own population would be harmed, only to be able to play the role of victims again. What an evil bunch of people...

Hamas's escalation strategy
by Pierre Heumann, Tel Aviv

Death and destruction reign in Gaza, but Hamas's calculations have come to fruition. The Islamists had provoked the israeli government for weeks with attacks on civilian targets. Now they can play the role of the victim - and increase their standing in the arab world.

Hamas must have known: Israel would not tolerate the continuous rocket attacks endlessly. Again and again militants fired on israeli towns in recent days. But the islamists considered the horrible pictures shown on TV which are shown across the world after Israel's attacks on Gaza in their calculations. They fully expected the suffering of innocents and the victims when they denied to extend the cease fire with Israel.

A perfidious strategy. The internationally isolated Hamas hopes - with the help of the current escalation of violence - to be taken as a serious negotiating party in the West. It is counting on the fact that the internation community will intervene and negotiate with Hamas.

On Friday, Hamas strategists still felt themselves safe, because Jerusalem was sending out calming signals. Israel mimed "business as usual". The government even allowed 80 trucks with relief supplies and medications to travel to Gaza. As if the operation "Poured Lead" wasn't planned, soldiers were allowed to take their planned vacation over the weekend. Hamas's leadership did not expect an attack before the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday.

But it was already decided at this time in the israeli defense ministry: The provocation of the Islamists would not be tolerated any longer. The soothing signals on Friday were a ruse, as one knows since Saturday. The concentrated attacks of the israeli air force were supposed to catch the Hamas leadership unprepared. That was successful.

The escalation was forseeable since the 19th of December. On this day, Hamas and a dozen other Palestinian groups allowed the six month old cease fire with Israel to expire - even though the cease fire was tenuous already. Almost 200 rockets and several mortars impacted on Israel since then. Civilians, not military installations were the targets of Hamas. The rockets only missed their intended targets only due to their lack of precision. But the continuous fear of the Kassam rockets made life in the south of Israel a pain. Many inhabitants fled to the North.

Hamas could have weighed the consequences of their attacks. The egyptian government, which attempted to negotitate betweem Gaza and Jerusalem, expressly warned them.

Even the threats from Israel over the past few weeknd were clear and not in need of interpretation. Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, in an interview with an arabic television station, demanded that the Palestinians cease the aggression against Israel. "Stop it" - otherwise, Israel would use force against the rocket launchers and their leaders.

But that's exactly what Hamas was counting on. Otherwise, it would not have provoked Israel, which possesses and army of Nato strength. It had known that hailing down rockets on Israel would eventually lead to retaliation.

That did not keep its leadership from ordering and supporting the rocket attacks. It was ready to accept that an israeli counterattack would cause casualties among the palestinian civilians, since Hamas compounds are purposefully sited in city parts where civilians live.

The welfare of the palestinian population is not the primary goal of Hamas. It has the governmental responsibility for the 1.5 Million inhabitants of the Gaza strip. But the statesmanlike duty that is tied to this resposibility has not been exhibited by the islamists. They remain dedicated to their ideology of resistance. That is why they are considered terrorists not only in Israel, but also in Europe and the USA.

Hamas, it appears, had only one goal with their provocation, which couldn't be any more cynical: They recommend themselves as a partner for dialog. Without their assent, there will be no peace is their malicious message. More then that: The massive military blow against Hamas, whose end is not yet in sight, improves the standing of Gaza's islamists in the entire arab world.

Even palestinian president Mahmud Abbas - certainly no friend of Hamas - expressed solidarity with Gaza and its government. In Jordan, Palestinians demanded that their government nullify their peace accord with Israel. The west bank is expecting violence. That would allow Hamas's claim to power to resonate even there - which Israel, the West, and moderate arab regimes want to avoid at all costs.

Isreal actions are highly deplorable. Its matter of shame that international community watches on when innocent women and children are killed. For the acts of Hamas the whole community is being victimized. The children who grew up will continue to have hatred for anything Isreali. I dont see how this going to end.
I dont think any Isreali were killed in Hamas firing. This action by Isreal is more like a premptive strike to reduce or remind the Hamas (and terrorise the palestinians) that they are equally lethal and competant enough to carry out strikes irrespective of collatoral damage.

What Israel creates (Hamas), it destroys.

Re: Terrorist attack in Gaza, 195 dead

On one hand you've got Hamas smuggling weapons into Gaza and conducting rocket fire into Israel, on the other you have Israel attacking Hamas locations in Gaza, populated throughout with civilians, via aerial assault. The common factor between the two are that they setback the State of Palestine from becoming a reality. How many times must we rewind and replay this horror that is life in the "Holy Land"? No doubt, as before, a cease fire will be reached once enough dead bodies are on the ground and the voices of condemnation grow loud enough, but until leaders are in place who want to seize peace the fire will resume at some point and the bodies will once again pile up. The Palestinians have a right to a state, one that gives them first class citizenship and total control of their domain. While Israel has a right to a secure existence without violence being threaten or perpetrated against them. These are the cornerstones that should be fought for but instead every rocket that is fired and every bomb that is dropped is an assault against them.

disappeared, there's nothing to invest here :)

so basically it’s ok to kill hundreds of civilians because of one israeli civilian that was killed?

that’s the lame excuse that’s being used, pointing fingers like kids oh he provoked me so i had to  they are the real terrorists  but obviously no one sees that, everyone’s blinded by their sweet talk and suckin up

but you can NOT use this as an excuse to kill hundreds of innocent people.

and even if they hadn't striked first, they still would've been the ones to be blamed, israel always gets off easy, ofcourse of theirs dead is equal to hundreds of palestinians dead

Re: Terrorist attack in Gaza, 195 dead

Israel craeted worse power braekdown in Gaza for a year, there was no electricity no medicines, not water , no food .

BTW , waiting for the US how she would save her Illegitimate Daughetr at Security Council as US did it in 60 years with 400+ Veto

Just stating facts lady. Read up on history of Hamas. You will notice similar trends in other jihadi minded organizations in pakistan as well. They were created by external powers for various reasons and have only served to further push muslims down.

Its sad that innocent people (on both sides) are dying due to this conflict.

However, Hamas is a terrorist organization whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel, so do you expect Israel to go easy on them ? If Israel lets them go now, do you think they will let Israel survive ?

Oh the great boogey man which is Hammas with its home made rockets will not let the the poor state of Israel with its nuclear bombs and the most advanced weaponry in the world... Survive?

Are you kidding? You fell for the joke of the century. Come back to reality. 1-2 Israelis have died in this past 6 months due to Hammas rockets/attacks. But more than 1000 Palestinians have died in the past 6 months due to Israel's constant blockades, choking and bombing of universities, schools, hospitals, mosques, houses, police stations.

Hammas is NOT a terrorist organization, only those ignorant fools who have been duped by the world elite in their massive propaganda machine say that they are terrorist.

Sure...like JuD is a charity. Give me a break...

Yes it was until the pathetic UN decided to declare them a terrorist organization. Who gives the UN any right to do such a thing? Insh'Allah one day we will not have or need any such evil organization.

Re: Terrorist attack in Gaza, 195 dead

The Problem with Islamophobists are they hate absalutely anything distantly related to Islam or muslims.Fior egSuppose some muslims died in an accident they will tell they had to die,it is good thing. Here one american punjabi(He is neither an Israeli nor Indian) is justifying Israel's killings simply forgeting that India who does not allow concession of single inch of land in Kashmir(Being an Indian I too don't like it) wants Palestinions to give away all their land to another country. If somebody resist it(I don't accept violence in anyform be it hamas) they are calling it Jihadi/Terrorism.Keep your dbl standards with yourself. This world is not only given to you people.Muslims too have the right in their land.Just keep your **ty logic at your home**

Hamas were voted in by the Palestinian people through the 'democratic' process so they are hardly a shady undercover hiding in the mountains type terrorist organisation ... if you want to call them terrorists you'll have to consider the Israelis in the same context... terrorism is not just about rockets bombs, their are many forms to it... denying someone access to water, food, medical treatment is just as bad.

Read up on your history, dude. Israel "occupied" that land because they won it in a war that was imposed by Arab (Islamic) aggressors, who eventually got their a$$ kicked.

You can google "six day war" if you are interested.

My problem (as you put it) is that I believe Hamas is a terrorist organization which is supported by the Palestinians. Israel is carrying out punitive strikes against a terrorist organization that is attacking it.

While I agree that those punitive strikes are disproportionate, you cannot blame Israel alone. I think the blame lies as much with Hamas, if not more.

And if you really feel its not NON-MUSLIMS vs. MUSLIMS, then stop supporting Hamas just because its a Muslim organization and condemn it for what it is - a terrorist organization.
